Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
thats a great request man, I have notice that most of my old back up games dont work in this new version, but in my old version 0.91 they work excellent ..
That could be a solution Good old retro games art of fighting,world heroes,cadash.. |
Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
Thats a bad request. Your old games are wrong and were likely redumped from the original roms. Enhancements are made frequently to MAME upstream, especially in the build system and unification of the SDL code

Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
thats why old dumped games dont work in the new version, where do i find new dumped roms on the net. sites usually dont refresh their roms

Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
That version of MAME looks like it's from 2001. I'm sure you can find some games that ran faster from back then, as the MAME team has constantly improved the accuracy in the emulation. On the other hand, there are years worth of improvements and additional platforms supported.

Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
Is there a big difference in performance on SDLMAME and MAME?
I have been running the SDL version and seems ok - should I change? |
Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
@jflatt
That's right build 0.37b5 probably is, the guy's who ported it franxis and notaz went for quality of emulation than quantity. if he went for a more up to date version most of the roms would suffer due to later mame builds not liking low powered cpu's and later roms are ram hungry. whereas older builds are more compatible with low power cpu's but are limited to play roms ok up to a certain year pre - 2000 i think. |

Mame is alot better with performance and it runs along side the mainstream PC releases. we only have version 0138 available at the moment but it should do for now, later versions that have since come out have small changes in them. |

Re: [Maemo 5] MAME [WIP] (Formerly SDLMAME)
No no no
you have misread what i said the author of mame4all on the wiz (franxis) ported an older version because he went for quality emulation (due to limited cpu on the wiz) than go for a newer version with more roms available but in which has issues with machines with low cpu's .i didn't mean quality as in graphics or fps i meant how they ran speed wise and with less issues., but from what i have read and used old versions run better with older roms than the newer versions with the same games on a low cpu machine ie wiz, basic netbook etc etc |
