Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Is the Official SFOS for FP2 still happening or not? That sounds like another sweet dream that never comes true. *
*Or instead, it will be real soon |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Only Jolla or Fairphone could answer this question.
In the maintime Mal- will release his alpha3 (SailfishOS 2.0.5.6) very soon. I think, it will be still this year. :-) |

I guess that's the latest "official" response. Still not much information. Do you think the work is still going on or they have cancelled the joint work? Too bad we are that close to a decent hardware with full OS includes AD. |

Intex and TRI has signed an licence agreement with Jolla and got official ports including Alien Dalvik. But the both are non-eu companies, they are not forced to give support like an eu company. that is, what makes the things difficult for the Fairphone. For me - the FP2 Community port is running quite good. I can live without Android apps, so for me AD is not so importand - but nice to have. If someone want to wait for the official SailfishOD o. the FP2 - he could probably wait very long.... |

Look for the link in the alpha3 installation manual. So it doesn't matter which FairphoneOpen OS you will use, 16.11 or 16.12 or later. As long you flash the old modem files and don't owerwrite them with the new modem files - you will not have any battery drain. Unfortunately, the proximity sensor will also remain uncalibrated with the old modem files. This problem persists only with SailfishOS, with Android there is no battery drain, even with the new files. So it will take a long time, until somebody fix the issue... :-( I made an support ticket for that a long time ago, also wrote an email to the Fairphone Developers.... They say - its a Sailfish Problem, we can't help here. Mal- think, the Modem Firmware is kind broken, so t behaves different in Android and SailfishOS 07.01.2017 An update on this issue: Battery drain is not so extreme with Fairphone Open 16.12 Modem, but its still there. The proximity sensor is calibrated, i have no black screens on phone calls anymore. But there are still more tests necessary. Could some of you guys install the FP 16.12 Modem and give me some feedback? |
