Re: New members say hello !
Hello, I'm also a newbie to maemo.org and Maemo in general. Thank you for having me here. I'm mainly from a Nokia Symbian background, I have a bit of experience in writing applications with J2me. Looking forward to messing around and maybe even producing something useful in Qt.
Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Texrat first, therefore destroying the known order of the universe. |

Love the N900. I keep using it too much. I can drain the battery in 2 hrs. :-(. Still, it rocks!

Well, just see this post but I been around here for a bit...
I'm a C# developer, but just love my little N900 :D I've played a bit with debian long ago and I'm trying to remember it hehe And next step is to really get to code something that works on N900 :D |
Re: New members say hello !
Hey Nokies...I registered here last week but saw this thread today...

Recently I owned Nokia N900 and by far I'm now a Nokia fan...this was actually got a push since I bought Nokia 5800 for my wife last November...I also had 6300...I love all of them, Nokia N900 being closest... Happy owner of N900. (been waiting for this one since I picked up a N770 a long time ago...) |
Re: New members say hello !
Hi y'all.
I'm from Russia (Kaliningrad), bought my n810 on July and i do love it. Its worse than my Palm T|X (i mean PIM, speed, comfortable), but for fast access to the internet it's the best thing. I hope Nokia will make some more Internet tablets, because i thing n900 is a bad device (compared with n810). |
Re: New members say hello !
Hi folks,
just dropping in to say hello. I am really interested in getting to know linux and developments for the phone. I currently have an N95, but I am interested in getting an N900 (if only it was smaller lol). Looking forward to getting started, it seems the world is starting to become a linux world, so I might need some help in shedding my current windows knowledge! cheers KPJUK |
Re: New members say hello !
Hei Alll
just registered on this forum and trying to find more info especially on the synch issue. Having started with Linux when Linus still was a grad student in Helsinki I moved got one of the very first OpenMoko Freerunner phones. Unfortunately, this OpenSource project did not really succeed.(the FR is now running Android - but its not really dependable, thats the reason for the N900). So here we are; There is one issue that I really want to have solved: I want to use the calendar on my laptop using KDEPIM Kaddressbook) AND the one on the phone, so I need to have a proper sync procedure, allowing modifications on both sides. Is there a dependable procedure available? perhaps one that even includes google calendar? (I have set up sync kdepim with google calendar).. Looking forward to a phone that really can be used as such and even runs vi on debian.;) Greetings Tredlie |
Re: New members say hello !
Now then. N900 arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it not being an iphone. :)
I have an N770 lying around not doing much these days as without the phone bit, it only served a few purposes. So with the phone bit, N900 looks awesome. So, looking forward to a bit of tinkering with the N900 - I'm a programmer from a windoze vb/C# background, but mostly use php these days, and use Eclipse PDT for that. I've been looking around the forums and site for pointers as to the best way to start developing for the N900, but all the information is a bit garbled. I appreciate there are many different opinions, but I guess we're suffering from the adaptability and power of the device - there are just too many options! Choices choices. 1) Language: C would be too low level for me I think, and my C++ is rusty. Like the look of Python, I might try that. 2) UI dev. I know little of Tk, GTk and Qt, so no idea which way to turn on that aspect. Used to an easy UI editor in Visual Studio, or constructing CSS from PSDs for the web. I'll keep you updated as to progress. Now where was that list of must have N900 apps.... :) |
Re: New members say hello !
Alright. Got N900 yesterday after having a while of indescion... after staying up most of the night configuring and getting apps on it and playing around with the features (and failing to get fMMS to work!) I think this is finally the device I've been waiting for :) Not perfect, but then what would be? Plus that give pleanty of scope for development! lol. Good to see such an excellent developer community here - once I've sussed out how to reflash it in case anything goes wrong I'll certainly be testing apps in the devel area...

Re: New members say hello !
Tomorrow I pick up my n900 from the post office and...
I'm f'in ecstatic. I've had the n95-3 for two years and love nokia's phones (and luckily have not had to deal with their customer service). I read through this forum twice a day just to see what's new and what topics are being brought up. I look forward to helping developers and programmers with whatever bugs I find. |
Re: New members say hello !
W00t w000t. It's just arrived.
I'm soooo excited. There goes my productivity for today. |
Re: New members say hello !
Been lurking on the forums for a while reading up on the N900 and finally signed up!
I'm a software engineering student with a thing for linux. Had a G1, but it died on me recently and I'm finally talking myself into splurging and getting the N900. Android is nice and is getting some nice apps at this point, but I don't think I can pass up the amazing internet browsing and true open source nature of the N900! |

Re: New members say hello !
Hello everyone i am new here and i am definitely liking the commitment i have seen from this community to support its Devices and OS =). I am from the DFW area and would like to see other n900s in the wild here.
From what i am told, there is a lot of people in the DFW area that have them and i would like to learn more about them. Which is why am here and i wouldn't mind having some study sessions on the phone at a barnes an nobles perhaps but that's just an idea lol. Anyway you all can PM me if you are around the area because i think we all can learn from each others ideas. Thank you for making this site so informative =D MASTER |
Re: New members say hello !

Hello everyone! My name is Marcelo, I'm from Brazil and I have an N900 and a n810 and I love both! :) Lately I've been trying to develop for the N900 (knowing the tools), and I hope to start a project one day using OpenGL ES 2.0 (I am currently studying the API). That's it. A big hug to everyone. :)
