Just spoke to UPS regarding Nokia online shop order as I wanted my delivery address changed, anyway the dude told me the package is being picked up from the Netherlands, it has yet to be collected from there even though delivery information has been processed, and more than likely it will be delivered Friday.

Sorry, but hadn't we already waited for the phones to ship to UK (10th) so they could be sent out from the appropriate places? Or have I missed something?

Explains the delays though - too many visits to the 'coffee shops' and not enough to the warehouse! LOL

If you click on the exlanation of events for UPS you get:

Quote:

Tracking Event Descriptions

Below is an explanation of common tracking events that occur from the time the label is created until the shipment is delivered:

Billing Information Received
The shipping label has been created, and UPS has received the shipment details and billing information.

Origin Scan
UPS has received the shipment.

Arrival Scan
The shipment has arrived at a UPS facility.

Departure Scan
The shipment has departed a UPS facility and is on its way to the next UPS facility. The shipment is moving, however, there may be several days between scans if the shipment is going cross-country or moving between countries.

Destination Scan
The shipment has arrived at the local UPS facility responsible for final delivery.

Out for Delivery
The shipment has reached the destination UPS facility and is ready to be dispatched for delivery. Except for premium air shipments, deliveries can occur at any time during UPS's hours of operation to residential addresses and by close of business to commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window.

Delivery
The shipment has reached its destination and the date and time of delivery have been recorded. In the U.S. and Canada, residential deliveries that do not require a signature may be left in a safe place, out of sight and out of weather. This could include the front porch, side door, back porch, or garage area. If you have instructed the driver to leave the shipment with a neighbor or leasing office, the driver will leave a UPS InfoNoticeŽ at the delivery address.
Now all I have showing on mine is Billing Information Received so lokos like not out of the warehouse yet but that would fit the normal model of put them on a pallet and then truck them out at end of the day.

I do however suspect that they might have missed the overnight to UK.

Well, I'm pretty peeeeed off again. After being told this am that there was loads of stock (Nokia cancelled by 5 Nov order) and that my new online order last night would be fulfilled no problem with a shipping email today.I have just learnt (after ringing nokia because I did not receive promised email) that stocks are getting low ie 300+ pieces currently in warehouse. I said that I thought my order should be back dated to my original date ie the 5th and asked to speak to a supervisor, not that they really have much power to do anything. I was told they would ring me in the next 24 to 48 hours with an update - so looks pretty hopeless if you ask me, or am I just a pessimist when really I should just trust them that all will be well? So I have missed my slot by the looks of it and who knows whats going on.

That is really odd, coz I ordered on 5 Nov and got a shipping email yesterday albeit that it was cancelled because of card problems and Nokia being authorised to take.!! Doesn't look like they are shipping them by date of orders received does it?

the time is a hour in front of UK time so your order shipped at 15;42 uk time

Use http://www.packagemapping.com

It gives you more details, it also has a nice Google Maps integration.

It also shows your Reference Number which is the Nokia Order Number on there as well.

Any thoughts on when the "Preorder" on http://shop.nokia.co.uk/nokia-uk/pro...00_bestsellers

will change to "Order now" ,
now that they seem to be prepping to ship?

I have an Amazon preorder for 2months, but thinking of switching.

I doubt it. It's like a 30minute flight.. Delivery companies would rather get the product delivered and out the way ASAP than having it take up room in the warehouse.. So many times I had opted for the cheaper delivery option only to receive it next day.

I'm hoping it's the same here.. Although I'm curious about the Exception. Hopefully it's not Nokia recalling them!

Where are you based?

The cargo planes are flying to the Midlands.

Liverpool..

Maybe the 30mins is a bit of an exaggeration, but my point is, it's a short distance from the UK so I wouldn't be surprised if they have continuous flights. Probably be cheaper for them to operate at off-peak times.

How do you know they are going to the midlands?

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

Now I'm confused. I picked up the shipping email at about 15:40. Nokia sent it at 14:16, according to the email. But the 'track' says it left the UPS warehouse at 16:33 - which is right about when I logged in to look at it. (The link in the email didn't work).

So... when did it leave from where?

Added to which the 'track your parcel' info I can see simply has 'left warehouse' and 'arrived dstination' with no info for where it might be in between. Is there some way I can actually track its progress? It would fill an evein otherwise spent on biting nails. ;)

Edit! My package experienced an exception!! WTF does that mean? :(

Aye, I've been thinking that.

the only other consideration is that, I get a 15% discount on Nokia on most products, but it's not working on the N900.
I assume thats because it's still a preorder.

Hoping they go to proper order soon.

ShutUpYouFace 2009-11-24 16:45

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

Well I've been looking up what this exception could possibly mean, and it doesn't look good. It can be either of:

1. Package not yet properly scanned
2. Being returned to manufacturer due to damaged/bad packaging
3. Missed flight
4. Incorrectly routed

Either way, it's likely to delay things.. Oh well..

NvyUs 2009-11-24 16:46

Umm

I just checked "Steve" out and well...

All the information he's been giving out is complete and utter BS.

Unfiltered not from concentrate BS

The store he claims to be from/working for have never (& I confirmed with the manager who's been there a number of years) heard of him

:D

My guess is that he's a member of the forum who made an alias because he wanted to reassure himself

Borderline schitzo behaviour
