The portrait mode is nice but it would be great if you could turn off the screen rotation as well and just have it run in portrait mode.

That explains why I couldn't get this to work the other day. I am using an old version, so I just assumed it was a bug that was fixed (is it fixed in the newest version?).

This is definitely necessary if it isn't already implemented.

Latest Instinctiv beta (102810) randomly crashes for me when starting playback of a song. Tried it with different songs, multiple times. Appears to be completely random but pretty frequent.

Im gonna need to have a lock on auto rotation, ability to select your own album art, and a faster way to navigate through albums and songs then I'll be set. Other than that it runs WAY smoother than a few months ago and It looks great! Once again great job

IMHO it would be nice to keep the layout between portrait and landscape as close as possible. Having a title bar at the top that doesn't cut the titles of the song/album/artist is on of the nice things about landscape mode. Here is what I mean:

You don't need the title bar to take up the space at the top. Mine only take up half of the space allowing you to display large art image. That is the purpose of my idea...allowing to display large art image even in landscape mode. If it can not be done...then forget it.

First of all, great work on instinctiv, peter! I last used it a few months ago, but recently reinstalled after updating to pr1.3 (which fixed the stuttering audio everytime it switched between regular portrait & dashboard landscape modes, big turn-off that it was). The other great improvement ive noticed has been with the playlist creation. its quick and easy now. thanks a LOT for that!

I second billybobjones' idea for making the album art as large as possible in landscape mode. (i couldnt edit the screeshot above, but id suggest removing the blank half of the "home > albums > epicon" bar to make even more space). also do something with all that empty space in list view while scrolling!

next (not sure if anyone already asked this, i think they did...) , could we have an option to lock the player in either portrait or landscape mode? (like we can with the phone app...although it reverts to landscape when th kb is open or when viewing the dashboard, but thats fine now that the audio doesnt skip)

third, about scrolling large lists: could you implement a quick, alphabetical scroll on the right hand side as is done on the ipodtouch/iphone? its prehaps the only quick yet accurate touch-sensitive scroll i can think of, and id like to be able to locate songs for adding to a playlist with out thumbing on and on and on...and then back...

besides that just one minor visual issue: the image you are using as the gray gradient in th background of the now-playing screen seems a bit off... it shouldnt show those bars like it is (something to do with too few colours or dithering i think?). it does that in both portrait and landscape. replacing that with a smoother gradient image would complete the silky-smooth feel of the app :D

i wouldnt mind paying for an itunes-integrated version...or at least a windows version that can sync playlists from an itunes library file. once again, great work!

I tried identifying some musics that were playing on TV but it never identifies them, is it just me being bad lucked with the specific musics i tried not in your database or is it somthing else?

Nope, sorry, they all were music that played during a program that i wanted to know what they were and remembered Instinctiv had that function so i quickly fired it up and tried to identify the song.



edit: i tried just now switching to the music channel on TV and so far it has recognized 4 out of 4 i've tried; perhaps the music during the programs and on openings were modified way more than i assumed?

You can already enable the FM transmitter whilst using Instinctiv.
I used this mod http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1952 to have the transmitter status always in the status area. Then you just urn it on, launch instinctiv, tune in and rock on!

I just downloaded this and from quickly listening to one of my live albums, there is still no gapless playback?

I'm really surprised this is so low on the to do list, it should be right on top since it is core functionality. This is a media player, not a GUI code demonstration program, right?

Let's hope rockbox gets ported to n900 really soon, then we'll have decent playback at last....

Haha. Until we're at a 1.0 version we'd rather focus on building new stuff and polishing existing stuff before spending any time on building a pay wall. We're leaning heavily towards a free/pro version. How much do you think we should charge?

If you made the art as big as the portrait mode for landscape....i am willing to pay $10.00 for the app. Otherwise, i am cool with the FREE version w/ just portrait mode. You have not answer the question wheather you can do it or not or actually want to do it or can't be done or impossible or no desire....i just want an answer. Thanks!

perhaps this question is off topic on n900 platform but i will ask it anyway and i would appreciate any answers. How to activate the facebook and twitter sharing in imac? I have fill out the username and all but i did not received any oauth allow/deny for twitter?

$10 for a great program is fair. $5 might get more buyers. I would also have the option for donations. That might bring in a surprising amount.

Yeah but the way the Ovi store works is $10 for the US customers would be £10 for British customers, which is about $15, so not exactly fair. If that could have a workaround then great.

There should be a free trial/free version too though because so far all the releases have been utterly unusable for me. It freezes, crashes, the last time i tried it with the latest .deb file i managed to eventually play a track, then the screen went black and the song was playing in the background and not responding to anything. Eventually managed to kill it, but my point is i'd be pissed if i dropped £10 for something i couldn't use. No problem at all paying for it if that's what you decide to do, but i do think a free trial is fair. Plus, people can be put off with something they must buy upfront with no trial, so offering a free version for a week's trial could bring more customers.
