NTSC (USA) version of Zelda runs MUCH better than the PAL (Europe) version. Almost twice the speed.

Whose kernel? titans or leeto's? Sounds sweet indeed :), I have no overclock but for this experience I make an exception.

Hello javispedro,

Are there going to be any updates through the App Manager? I haven't seen any come through. If not, how can I update the plugins? I used to use the xterm version but now I have the GUI version and I haven't seen any App Manager updates since I first installed Mupen. Are there certain commands for xterm to update the plugins?

Thank you

Hmmm not sure if I should ask this here, but the proximity sensor when running Accelememote used to be the A button but now I can't get that to work, it just does nothing..that I'm aware of. I do have shortcutd installed, so that might be interfering with it. A few days ago it was fine, not sure if it was the update of Accelemymote or mupen64plus that broke it. Anyone with this problem?

It's not a problem with the accelemymote update. I tested it before release and just re-tested with PrBoom and it works fine. I don't really know how shortcutd and accelemymote would get along, but i don't really anticipate any collisions. It may be your mupen configuration.

Off topic: Best control configuration i've found so far for Ikari Warriors in MAME is using accelerometer for movement, two keys to rotate, etc. I was hoping that using the accelerometer to rotate would work well but with default settings it wasn't very good. :/

The pa64 plugin should be available (it's not enabled by default).

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

I wanted to try OoT with the European and USA Rom. First I had the European, working pretty good. Then I put the USA version on the device and run it. Everything was working untill I started a new game. It gave me an error:

Quote:

"The core thread recieved a SIGSEGV signal.
This means it tried to acces protected memory.
Maybe you have set a wrong ucode for one of the plugins!"
I don't know hat that means, but I think its because I have two versions of the Game, and it gets confused which one to load. Because I have the same problem with each game, I have twice (European and USA version). I can load and play the game I put first on the phone, but the second version gets alway this error.

I need help from someone nice. I've been trying to compile the latest build for my phone for the last 4 hours and it's getting more than frustrating.

I've followed this guide http://wiki.maemo.org/Mupen64plus

Now I have all the necessary files at /home/user/.mupen64plus

But what now? How do I get a link to launch the app? Doing the stuff on the guide doesnt work.

I'm trying this because I have no idea how new the version is from the app manager. I could really use a noobs guide right now. :(

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Use the Version from the app manager, its the newest and works the best. The wiki guide is old.

Ever heard of GoodN64? It checks the checksums of your roms and renames them to the real names/versions.

He's downloading the games from the internet and now complains that some of them are labeled wrong on the crappy warez site he got them from. What's the lesson? Rip the games yourself or use good warez sites.

Can someone put me the correct configurations, so the emu can work faster?
I think i've put the customconfig file somewhere else :p, cause my roms run kinda slow!

So few things I've noticed about the new version:

1. Anti-aliasing seems to be enabled.
2. Lots of graphical bug fixes
3. Slight increase in speed with pa64 audio plugin.

Tested with SM64.

Been lurking here for last couple weeks watching the all the fast progress mupen has made.
Just want to say thanks to all involved for this great emulator.
Have now even overclocked my N900 just so i can test it out!

IMO the pa64 plugin for audio is the most usable so far.
I did noticed though that when playing banjo kazooie the music was actually ahead of the cut scene in the opening sequence. Banjo and co were still playing when the music had finished...by at least 4-5 seconds! lol

Keep up the great work guys. Looking forward to this being truly running near full speed. :)

New version it's awesome. sm64,sm kart, fzero, formula 1 gran prix works withut problem 90-100 percent full speed (without sound).

Zelda oot crashes with sigsegw problem, there a way to solve it?
There's a way to close the emulator with a button?

Thanx for this version!

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

I'd like to add my thanks and praise for the developers of this emu. It's one of the things I had looked forward to ever since first laying eyes on that Bounce demo!

Allow me to say that the games look amazing, and run extremely well. I can't wait to show it off to my friends.

I've played Wave Race and gotten good looks and acceptable speed. Cruisin' World also looks and plays exceptionally well.

Is there a best/so-so/worst gamelist going anywhere? I'd like to read it, and also add my two cents.

Thanks again to all involved, another HUGE step forward for the N900! The end is nowhere in sight!

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Hmm is current release revision 21 or 22?

...

No matter I'll play 1080 and see if it bugs out. I'll also update the custom config soon as it has a couple deprecated commands in it now :S

EDIT: New custom config is up.... should work a charm to speed up some of the games.

There is a compatability list for Pandora.. and since we are running a re-compile of that it is mostly the same. I have tried to push people away from compatability lists at the moment, however, as every 3-4 days with a new release sees 2 more games working... and 1 broken.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?...GB&output=html

I'll say myself though:
1080 Snowboarding, F-Zero X, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Lylat Wars, Dual Heroes and Zelda (NTSC version) run fantastic as of the moment.

Can you please relax yourself.

I'm happy to concede I don't have the knowledge you do about the quality of roms and best places to obtain them but there is no need to be aggressive about it.

My testing:

Vigilante 8 - menus messed up, slow motion gameplay

Mario 64 with sound - game play is almost 100%, sound is about 80% with glitches every 15 - 20 seconds (more often when there is more going on the screen).

Mario Kart 64 - Just about full speed without sound

Majoras Mask - Just about full speed with sound!

With new version intro in SC64 looks way better :) Now you can even see what is happening(with glitches but...).
Sad thing that when the game gets into menu it displays following error:
"The core thread recieved s SIGSEGV signal.
This means it tried to acces protected memory.
Maybe you have set a wrong ucode for one of the plugins!"

As for the rest of problems, please read the first post. Zelda OoT works here, has always worked, and probably will never break considering it's popularity.

Tried super mario 64 PAL and NTSC and both don't load with the Pa64 plugin selected.

And that goes for all other games i have tried. But i will try more to make sure. :(
