How should we execute the "echo /dev/block/vold/179:9 > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/gadget/lun0/file" command?

Android terminal don't allow typing " < " symbol.
ADB doesn't seem to be working also.

you can use better terminal emulator an it works fine and i can type all symbols without any problem

Which driver are you using for usb debug on N900?

adb doesn't require _driver_ in linux, iirc.

Hi community,

yesterday, I installed NITDroid 2.6.28.NIT.06 in my N900. I did follow manual installation methods to install NITDroid in my 4gb sdcard. But now I can't able to boot maemo OS from multiboot menu. Press '0' or 'b' doesn't help. Only i can access the shell by pressing 's' while in NITDroid boot menu. I have 2 menu item available in boot menu as follows:

1 - NITDroid 2.6.28.NIT.06 on mmcblk1p2
2 -

I get the following message if i press '0' to boot maemo

can't flash kernel, required files not found
Guru Meditation #00000025.62107712

Hit any key to panic.

i try to flash N900 using nokia flasher_3.5 - but failed to do so because when i switched the phone off and press the 'u' key and plug the usb cable my phone start the nitdroid and goes to restart loop and the flasher can't able to recognize the phone.

Please, help me on this - how can i boot to maemo again. How can i uninstall multiboot and NITDroid without booting to maemo. Is there a way to do so using NITDroid shell. I don't have nitdroid-uninstaller and my phone has PR1.3 updated.

Does your unit become a bit warm after switching/running Nitdroid for awhile(say about 1hour of trying out different option and icon, playing with the UI)? Currently, nitdorid 0.0.8 is installed to the SD card.

also, a search(with nitdorid, warm, battery) points to this thread with >70pages of posts and the other one. Can one search result within a given thread?

Cheers,

I believe, in the advanced search, you can select "show post" instead of the default "show threads"

thank you... , what was I thinking:o

I got the answers/comments on page 5/19 of this thread

I am using a Patriot Signature Line Class 4, 16GB (PSF16GMCSDHC43P); it works very well and seems very fast to me(takes about 45sec from boot menu to showing up of the UI).

Cheers,

Yes, I noticed the N900 is noticably warmer after about 30mins of using Nitdroid.
Might be the battery management not fully ready in 0.0.8.

Hey,

I tried the automatic installation today, but there is no nitdroid installer in the app manager. I have the extras-devel repo enabled, though not the extras-testing.
I tried both from the app manager and from the x terminal. It cannot find the package.
Has anything changed lately.

Also the installation wiki doesnt say anything about external microsd card.

no, you have to manually install 0.0.9

Re: Nitdroid today, auto-installer and 1st impression and 0.0.8 installation AND PR 1.3 UPGRADE and Titan power45!

is it likely that the auto installer will eventually be able to do 0.0.9? Or is it manual only from now on? Only realised a gingerbread version existed today, but I only tinker with android now and then, so if it will get to autoinstaller soon anyway I'll probably just wait.

thanks

Thanks. I love this forum.

BTW, I hope you noticed I used the word "We", that means, even in my absence, some of you will help the poor soul with problems in installing, right? The N900 is really a forum-help computer!

I am still with 0.08, as I am really happy with 0.08, I heard some good thing about 0.09 as well as gingerbread, but I am heading for a trip this weekend, and is NOT in the mood of tweaking my N900 in a hotel :) ...

Again, anybody wants to play with Nitdroid and having problems in installing, come on down, we will take you thru'

I erased my nitdroid. I then started from scratch. I followed 1st post, using autoinstaller and installed 0.08, it took 8 min. I then followed this one, and now I am 0.09 with ALL my installed app. The whole process took 30 min.

To back up:
xterm
root
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
using winscp, I copied /and/data/app into a folder, I called /nitdroidDA.
I then do the upgrade. When done, I copied /nitdroidDA back to /and/data/app. I have over 150 apps installed over 1 minute.

I ran into partition issue before. It was resolved by following the "STEP 1" of the instruction in the wiki :http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-install to partition the SD. After that I continued with the procedure(in post 1) of this thread and was able to complete the install without further issue.

good luck

Re: Nitdroid today, auto-installer and 1st impression and 0.0.8 installation AND PR 1.3 UPGRADE and Titan power45!

For debug, one use adbwireless, here is a step by step guide for winXP users,

A step by step instructions is here. Yah, right, step-by-step, still quite intimidating to me. It took me 2 hrs to dig around, and it is done. Works beautifully, I have 2G installation space on my SD card now.

The following was written for my tablet. Nitdroid only has to install adbwireless and the winXP part.

For my android tablet, not nitdroid

Prerequisit:
1) an empty SD card; I use a 8G
2) able to get root
3) has adbwireless

I am using petolley 1102 FW.

Partitioning the SD card: you need an empty SD card; I use a 8G; I put 1.95 G on the EXT3
ADB: I am using ADBwireless with winPC XP; you can do it with mac/Linux.
This is on your winPC machine:
1) install JDK, click the 1st icon, the one with only the coffee cup icon; this step may NOT be necessary, I did it anyhow.
2) http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html, click download on left colum, and download Android-sdk_r07-windows.zip; unzip this and copy the folder tools to a c:\SDKtools or anypath you can remember.
3) start adbwireless from your A81e, you can watch a video here.
4) On your winPC, Start>Run...>CMD
c:\cd c:\SDKtools
c:\SDKtools\adb connect 192.168.1.x:5555 (copy from your A81e)
c:\SDKtools\adb shell
just wait, you will be connected and see "#" sign. Now follow his tutorial; be careful with typo; it works for me on 1st try. and after this, you now have 2G installation space.

i wish i knew why wifi keeps disconnecting on my 0.0.9 installation. i have the settings to disconnect 'never', but it drops the connection after a half hour or so. im streaming audiogalaxy, testing on local network. phone is literally sitting right next to the wifi and signal quality is perfect, all other wifi devices work fine.

any other settings to try? airplane mode is off and staying that way

0.9? Why not Gingerbread ;)
I didn't bother with 2.2.1 - I went right for GB! :D

Re: Nitdroid today, auto-installer and 1st impression and 0.0.8 installation AND PR 1.3 UPGRADE and Titan power45!

Why not gingerbread, UH? The answer is very obvious.... I dont know how to do it :( .

Well, and also gingerbread does not recognize sd card... oh well, I have NOT been kept up. I would appreciate if you can leave a few lines summarize the current status, what works and what not. And also it does not recognize SD card? I know I am pretty off by now :)

Does it have to install on eMMC? I dont want that, I still want the safety trap of SD card installation.

Oh, a few line installation help for those already have 0.09 installed will be grateful.
