Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
polomarco,
I agree with rswelter...use the phoenix software and start completely all over. You can find tutorials in this website and also on youtube that will walk you thru it step by step. Where did you buy the phone from? SB |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
SB
I'll check out phoenix software right away! I purchased the phone in USA on eBay. It wasn't even a great deal so say the truth, so that's why this its totally a surprise. Now I'm starting to doubt if there is any possibly than the company that sold me the phone has changed the Sim tray. I'll check if the IMEI on the box, and the IMEI stamped on the phone do correspond. |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
About downgrade thingy not allowed, its not very logical. I cannot downgrade to pr339 from pr280 no matter what i try. i upgraded to 1.3 from nokia software update (i had a flashed pr001 on 1.2) and after NSU was done i had 280 again.
Its no big deal really but i cannot choose to lock it in 2g since pr280 has that option dimmed out. Going to try a external 2g/3g/dual switcher to se if that helps tho. But as i said, downgrading rules are not as simple as you think. (i have soon downloaded most of new navifirm (new backup links) and tried flashing most of them. I all accompliced tho is making a monthly record in legal GB downloads :P ) |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hey guys,
So I started the flashing process with the secure erase option and it's taking forever... I was wondering if it's safe to abort the process and start it again without secure erase? Code:
user@kiwi> flasher -f -F N9_ |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Quote:
Better to wait for 3-4 hours before aborting. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
ok,
it did actually only take 10 more minutes^^ thx guys |

Sorry for my absence and updates these days. Had some things to take care of. Ok back to the problem, the situation is like this: I've done some research on Phoenix software, it seems pretty simple but I cant get to work. Every time I try it, after pressing the "..." button and after than "OK" button to select firmware it keeps giving me an error saying: "Currently selected data - package retrieval failed: 0x840E0818 (-2079455208) -Framework: The digital signature verification failed because the signature file could not be found." Haven't found any solution about it yet. Also I could even get any info for the phone from Phoenix, it doesn't recognize the phone at all. I managed to find some info which seems pretty confusing (maybe only to me). The phone IMEI (which is stamped on the top of the phone, when you open the USB and SIM cap) its the same with the IMEI on the phone box. The strange part is that the name of the phone on the box is: "N9 NV LTAU CYAN/AZUL" but the name of the phone suggested from the SIM tray is "NDT LTA Cyan 16GB" Any idea on what does this mean, or its the same thing? |

open phoenix pgm. click ..file..then open product... scroll down to RM-696 click OK click tools..select data package download insert the code you want to download note the download path and change if necessary click check availability, if available then download is this the same procedure you have tried? if not try this and let me know if you get anything? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
I wonder why are you using this Phoenix thing, how is that different from the normal Harmattan flasher utility?
|
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Ive tried it with the phone turned on and off, and also with no phone connected. The options it shows are: Label printing Options (also in the options there isn't any data package download) Smart card activator Certificate restore BB5 CU-4 / terminal current consumption Product code change The version of phoenix I'm using is Phoenix Service Software 2012.50.001.49220. At the lower right corner of the product it says Product not authenticated with SuperDongle, maybe this has to do something? |

For the moment installed on the phone is the German 009 firmware so if I use my Sim tray fw which is 001 its means doing an fw downgrade, which supposedly cant be done because its not allowed by the system, or this is only if you use the normal flasher, and with Phoenix flasher can be done a fw downgrade? So should I proceed with the German fw or my Sim tray one? |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hello. Didn't Nokia block NaviFirm (and Phoenix) from the general public? I've been unable to use NaviFirm (error message states something about authenticity or whatever) and Phoenix won't even run.
I bricked my N9 just last night while trying to re-install the OS from Nokia Suite (against my better judgement). So, now, I'm looking for a method to fix my screw-up. Thanks. |

if you dont have a 1.3 firmware for your original code then I would try the german 1.3. it depends if you want go with LTA or german is up to you..it were me I would try the upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3. after you get the downloads for phoenix: w/ phone swd off and NOT connected file open product select rm-696 select flashing click product code uncheck detect prod automatically, select your firmware and then click ok. click deadphone flashing. w/ phone off plug into usb, may have to wait for phoenix usb drivers loading?? click refurbish. good luck if the above doesnt work, try again with your original firmware from sim tray. post your progress. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
[2013-05-08 20:11:20] <juiceme> but sill it bugs me that people will try in vain to flash wrong images with phoenix, and they do not belive when told that it makes no difference whatsoever...
[2013-05-08 20:11:53] <juiceme> they think it's some magic solution, somehow better than the command line flasher [2013-05-08 20:12:09] <Jonni> yeah it makes no difference at all FYI: jonni is an (ex-)Nokia employee and Harmattan system developer who knows his stuff. As it happens he's also the guy who helped to make openmode come true. In expression that's an "official" statement of the guys who built N9. Phoenix might have some twists that care about problems originating from windows OS (or other apps) interfering with flashing process, which maybe are less advanced or missing in flasher-3.12. My recommendation always been to use a linux PC for flashing anyway with flasher-3.12, and that combination is probably less prone to give you any troubles than either of the other methods on any windows PC. /j |

Now the phone doesn't even start it just gives a big panel saying the you have modified the device software making the warranty permanently void, and that I have to install a Nokia authorized operating system.
