Many thanks for your quick response!

Perhaps I explained myself wrongly before; I only can get properly connected when I use the official whatsup app in a device running android OS.

I always use the same SIM card which it's swapped between the devices.

When I try to connect using Yappari app on a N900 I get what is displayed in the yappari.log from my prior post.

So I'm not sure about what you mean by "you need to delete official whatsapp on your device first, then register it in yappari"

What I did was first to uninstall offcial whatsup app from the android OS device while on-line, switch it off, exchange the SIM and after that try to connect via Yappari app on the N900... without succeeding :(

Did I follow your instructions correctly? If not, could you please elaborate a little bit more the right proceding?

YEAAAA!! :D :D :D

At last.... Registering from Yappari made it to work again

In order to request registration again I just had to delete "/home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.conf" after having uninstalled the official whatsup app in the device running android OS while on-line.

After that, Yappari asked for my phone number which I typed... and voila!

This is just another great example proofing the value of this amazing MAEMO community... our beloved N900 can be 5 years old but it's definitively LIVE&KICKING!!

From yesterday yappari (2.0.10) is crashing very often to me...

the log says:
Code:
There was an IO error: Connection closed by server.
Connection closed.
Stopping timers.
Freeing up the connection.
Freeing up the socket.
Yappari will retry the connection in 10 seconds.
Invalid length 0x8

Hey,
Great Work ... really love developments in the community.
Just a question !

Can't see the list of members of a group, is it just me or the functionality is not attempted yet ?
Besides adding contacts to the group, i don't see the option to remove or modify a member(promote to an Administrator) of a group.
Please forgive my asking so, i don't mean to be rude, i respect what's already achieved GREATLY !!!
i am just looking for a quick answer!

Excuse me, I'm also experiencing the same problem when using my GPRS/UMTS connection. Is it caused by the known issue about the presence of an unstable connection and consequent segmentation fault? when using gprs connection the problem happens very frequently...maybe due to the phone aerial(antenna) sensibility when handling the phone and it's becoming very tedious! :(

Hi, Need to ask 2 stuff.

1. I just need to know is there any possibility to delete contacts from yappari, because I just changed my network and i can see my old contacts which are not exist in my address book.

2. I blocked some contacts in yappari but still they are appearing.
any suggestions with that.

Delete /home/user/.yappari/roster.db. You may also delete chats.db :)

Hi.
I have a problem with the synchronization: yappari disconnects when it arrives at 70%.
I tried to delete .yappari and scorpius folder without results.
Can you help me?

I have started using my best buddy the 5 year old N900 with all new updated apps and yes Yappari filled the gap for whatsapp. For now my Jolla will rest aside just for phone calls. I really wish that TMO lives forever coz of some awesome support from developers and the whole maemo community. Cheers guys. - Ali..

This started happening after my battery discharged. I restarted after charging the phone. Recieved a Registration dialog box from Yappari (even when I have been long using it). Anyway, I registered again. And everything seemed tol be fine. Then I started getiing frequent Disconnects. This mostly happens when Yappari is running in the background. I have to keep Yappari opened to have a nice conversation. But still it sometimes disconnects and reconnects when open, saying Lost connection to the server. If Yappari is running in background, it Disconnects after a few minutes and I am not able to open it from the applet. I have to go to the Menu and open it from there.

The same issue happened with me yesterday but I ignored it on the first as my wifi had some issues. But today it seems to be working fine. Atleast for now. Must be a protocol issue from whatsapp itself I suppose.

On the other hand, I wanted to report some issues that I am having myself.

I believe there must be something wrong with my n900 (or with a little bit of luck, my SDcard), because I'm experiencing lots of segmentation faults on not also Yappari, but on other applications as well.

I won't be able to do much regarding Yappari until I have this fixed, which is something I don't even know if is possible yet.

Anyway, I got a couple patches waiting for next release, I'll be waiting a week for your new logo and then release 2.0.11, regardless if there's a new logo or not. Don't take any pressure, it's just a very flexible schedule I set for myself so releases happen somewhat regularly.

@BlazingBird - are you using Humanity Icons? It's icon-theme-connected, with hicolor the hi-res icon is being used
@ ceene: can you please take a look at the icon theme and possibly fix the bug? The apps whose icons suffer from it: PortaBase, FBReader, probably Rapier. I reported the issue to the relevant threads but no reply since then. And it was a long time ago.

Hmm... I don't even know what's Humanity Icons or how it relates with Yappari :/ What should I read to learn about that?

Yes.. I am currently using the Humanity theme with the icons pack. Should i replace the icons with the default one from the theme manager? Or is there a way i can use hi res icons with the Humanity ones.

Hello friends!!! Greetings! Look for days i have problems with yappari. Within minutes of being connected is turned off. Services icon in the status bar is active but not receive messages. I made sings that indicate to remove this file scorpius/yappari.conf and continues this problem. Remains connected when i open the program but rest remains swichted off but active in the tollbar.

Tell me friends!! That i can do to solve this problem???

Im not a coder either bro.. But i can design fantastic layouts.. and make it much better. Also i have tons of suggestions to make it more attractive as a Maemo app.. So how about we begin step by step.

The problem is not the design of the icons. Yappari provides a 16x16 icon for the status area. If you create another icon, still providing a 16x16 alternative, the problems will probably persist.

I guess that the packages of the Humanity theme/humanity icons need fixing. It should be certainly done in the packaging of these apps. But I'm not into theming, so I don't know how to do it.

But if you compare the built-in hicolor theme package with the humanity-icons package you may find the cause.

You are right.. When i changed the theme to hi res the icon was clear enough. But when changed to humanity pack the icon was a low res. So its the problem with humanity pack and not the icon itself. But as Ceene mentioned that he is open for suggestion for UI changes and now we see that Yappari is getting active than before then why not make it a full fledged app like whatsup once again.

Yeah it looks kinda Torrent. We can change the color theme as we like. and the Y as well. I thought the phone and messaging cloud icons are common so thought of going on with the initials of Yappari

The color theme isn fine with me. Its just that 'Y' looks more like a 'U'. That's what reminded me of uTorrent actually. I suggest you move the second curve up a bit.

Well then it must be the color theme that got me thinking. And blue looks like a good idea too.
