Ever thought of doing volunteer work on suicide help lines...
or euthanasia teams convincing people to stick it out?

Actually, yes.

I try to see the absurdity of human existance for what it is, and then to defy it by trying to live a life that is still both fun and guided by moral principles.

This contradiction is hard to swallow for some people, so I'm usually not trying to hawk the absurdity part around, but afaik I've at least contributed to one person not going for a 2nd suicide attempt by helping her to accept that life might be absurd but is still worth living.

However, I consider this a major personal investment, which is why don't want to do this on a more or less professional basis.
My utmost respect to anyone who does, though!

yeah...
gotta admit on both counts myself...
I have stopped others and convinced them not to take the quick way out...but to stick around and be a thorn in as many asses as possible..while they can...

and...
I consider myself a "pragmatic optimist" (fear and plan for the worst, do and hope for the best..) with more than a touch...more like a full hand of the absurd thrown in...(but no one would EVER know it..)

I guess I am just surprised at the sheer numbers of us...
here I thought I was the lone chinchilla yelling in the dark...

The easy access to technology combined with social media have killed the internet. I have seen people posting to a news website discussion forum, whose interface is not designed very well for quoting other people's posts, by highlighting their own lines with the leading '>' sign. I kid you not.

I have noted the same thing..
For a long time now...
Forget the new court of social media justice...
It runs deeper and more troubling..
In fact there has been a great deal of unsettling talk lately about the topic of the dissemination and proliferation of deliberate misinformation with the express purpose of polarizing people and putting them at odds with one another...
Sure one could blame a single entity or two for this...but that is false...
It isn't just a singular government body ...it is many..
Even my own...in fact ...my government honestly (go figure ..eh?) announced that it would be implementing such misinformation tactics if the need arose.
Covert groups...collectives of people...organizations...corporations and individuals are all now doing their utmost to flood the planet with either false and misleading information ...or are using their tactics in negating, dismissing, refuting or evilly trolling real witnesses and survivors of calamity, actual truthful reporting and scientific research...
Such falsity is undermining and throwing even the veracity of reputable outlets of fact and news into troubling doubt...

The allowance of everyone to express their opinions has become a clamor of people insisting their ideas are fact...whether to deliberately destabilize or not....

It is very very dark dark times ...I see...in the field of reliable information ...
