Especially when I first didn't format my 2Gig SD card with enough space on the boot partition. I eventually got a 4Gig SDHC and gave it plenty of space.

But, boy, was I thrilled when it started up. So, so cool. I just want to say thank you for getting me to try harder. :)

I am glad I can inspire you as so many have inspired me :)

This looks like a fun project to try; too bad I don't have an MMC card! WHY oh WHY are they so hard to buy!? I just want to pick it up from a store. I ask no more.

PB: This looks so cool... Just if only OpenOffice could be ported... Likely too big?

This reminds me few years back when I wanted to "experiment" with Linux. I just wanted to install "any" Linux on another partition/disk on my computer (dual boot). My rig was custom (home built) and no conventional linux distros wanted to even start to install on it! (I tried Mandrake, Red Hat, Knoppix,... and some else too, can't remember any more...) The only one I got past "boot" and into a console prompt was Gentoo. What I did, I did build my Gentoo Linux system from scratch starting from partitioning disks, building kernels, etc. Most apps in Gentoo also needs to be compiled from source as well. (OpenOffice did take long time!) The good thing about this was that I did learn a lot from Linux. Too bad this was few years ago and many of that stuff I have forgotten...

If only I had time to install Gentoo for N800 I'd be sold! :D

By the way, one friend of mine who used Mandrake on his laptop changed to Gentoo once I showed him how well/fast my Gentoo box worked... he has also been happy Gentoo user since...

Am I going off topic here? :o

No your fine :D

I would love to look at starting everything from scratch, but I would not know where to begin on the maemo platform, thats why I skirt the edges and ride the waves, I am going along for the ride just like everyone else. Compiling a window manger and some apps is much easier than calibrating that touchscreen

Not sure I want to open up that can of worms. What I really wish I could make work and believe me I have tried is a second X server running on display 2 and have it be 1024x768 (which would be great for VNC), but I have not figured a way to do this, everytime I try it overtakes the display on display 1. Maybe I need to compile X myself, OK perhaps I am going off topic now.

So many possibilities, so little time:(
