Re: Application manager error
Have you changed the hostname of your n800 recently via the "hostname" command and/or /etc/hostname ?
If so, make sure you add the new name to the localhost entry in /etc/hosts |

Verified the host name is in /etc/hosts. Application Manager still hangs. |
Re: Application manager error
Could it be Nokia messing with their repositories in prep for N810? Whatever is causing the problem... App Manager really needs to fail more gracefully. Hope that is covered in OS2008.

Re: Application manager error
Totally off-topic for this thread, I'm subscribed for instant email notification, but it ain't happening :( Back on topic, everything else on my N800 seems to be working fine. As an earlier poster mentioned, apt-get from the command-line is working w/o errors.

Thanks Moonshine! I have no idea how you figured that out. I completely agree that App Mgr really needs to fail more gracefully. |
Re: Application manager error
I had changed my hostname. Changing it back and rebooting fixed the problem.

Then I re-ran Application Manager and it's working now. Thank you! |
Re: Application manager error
I've just had the blank Application Manager screen issue described by other posters in this thread.
I have read the instructions on this thread, but am having some problems as I'm a bit of a N800 newbie. Hopefully some kind person will be able to help? The "hostname" command returns Nokia-N800-26 & the top line of /etc/hosts is 127.0.0.1 Nokia-N800-26 localhost so as far as I can see, the hostname is the same in both places. Is this correct? I then decided to try and change the hostname via sudo gainroot, but I'm then prompted to enter a password which I don't know so I'm unable to change the hostname :-( I thought the point of becomeroot is you could then do a sudo gainroot and become root, without being prompted to enter a password, or am I terminally confused?! HELP! |
Re: Application manager error
Try rootme as the password.
