Re: Cheapest all-you-can-eat data plan?
Sprint SERO is the cheapest you can get.
I myself only use the n800 for browsing and an occasional IM, so with usage in the 50MB per month through my cell im not that worried about being caught, especially since the phone itself uses 2-3x that for email syncing. |

ImDisaster, that SERO plan does seem to be amazing!
A good overview page on it is http://www.allabouterp.com/blogs/13/...tter-Deal.html Thanks everyone, this has been a lot of useful info. |
Re: Cheapest all-you-can-eat data plan?
That is a good overview page...much easier than going through 140 entries in the FatWallet thread (though most of the good info gets updated in the first posting.)
I'm on my 4th Sprint SERO plan. I have one for the wife and me, and I just ordered a couple Centros for my kids. I've told everyone I know about the plan and am amazed at how many will think their family plan is better because they get additional phones for $10 a piece. Then they go on to complain how they are always running out of minutes because their kids talk to much (and all the phones share the same minutes) or that their kid's text messages are costing a fortune. With our 4 phones we get 2000 minutes for $120 plus unlimited text messaging on all phones. Love being able to send my son a text message (for example, "Will be picking you up at 10am for a doctor's appointment."...or "Don't forget to bring your instrument home.") Calling his cellphone in school isn't a going to work and leaving messages at the office is notoriously unreliable. |
Re: Cheapest all-you-can-eat data plan?
Another $5.99 T-Mo user here...
Unless you truly need broadband all the time, I don't think you can beat this plan. I get full http/https access, and the speed actually tests at about 100kbps down/60kbps up. (my last test was 92/55). Not blazing by any means, but certainly fast enough for email, chat/IM, and syncing calendars. This is on a regular GPRS connection....not sure what EDGE would do, or if the speed is limited by the proxy. As mentioned, you must set up the proxy for both http and https, a process that takes about 2 minutes. Also, T-Mo doesn't track bandwidth, nor do they charge for it. They also include FREE roaming on Cingular and Unicel (a huge coverage in the northeast) including their data networks which allow you to pass through to the proxy server. Basically, it is unlimited use for 6 bucks...and for my needs it is perfect. If you need speed, though, you'll want to steer clear. |

Ahh :) I forgot to add the https proxy when I re-setup the T-Mobile connection...
Thanks LOL Now if I could get my Jabber acct working thru it and audio streaming, I'd be set :) |
