Re: New N800 - Loading OS2008?
I like reading the boards using the archive, if you click on 'PDA' at top right to list the newest first, if you don't it lists them oldest is first. The
You could call this the list... http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo....php?f-29.html I wasn't aware of the password problem, it's the second time I've seen it mentioned as if everyone knew about it. I'm using 2008 beta fwiw. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...p?t-12237.html |

Re: New N800 - Loading OS2008?
I saw a mention on the Nokia pages about OS2008 for N800 being planned for mid-December, although that might be dated information already. Does anyone know if the Nokia developers have a target date in mind?
Still, it would probably be a good idea to have an RC release, especially if the GA has been delayed. I'm thinking of replacing the internal flash with a faster 2GB card and playing with the beta there. |
Re: New N800 - Loading OS2008?
On a new tablet I'd go ahead and immediately install OS2008 - the backup and restore is much less lossy within one version than when upgrading, so you'll have less trouble with the reflash you'll eventually do in any case.

That's my advice too. You may as well install OS2008beta, then the migration to the final will be much easier.

Re: New N800 - Loading OS2008?
That's the route I went. There weren't any real "must have" apps that I lost by upgrading, and I am loving the increased speed and more functional browser. I used OS2007 for the first day I had it, and I'm really happy I upgraded.
I also had no idea about the password bug, and I honestly don't understand exactly what the problem is. I assume it's with the larger keyboard (since you referred to it as a thumb pad)...... I usually stick with the smaller stylus keyboard personally. Anyway, for being a beta build of the OS, it's been running pretty stable for me. I've been running in R&D mode the whole time, but I really don't think that makes any difference. Just went back to production mode so we'll see how it works out. |
