I guess I'm missing something.. doesn't it cost money for a gizmo number? How is this "100% free"?

You need to add a regular phone # first, then after your account gets confirmed. Go to settings, and there should be an option in the drop down box (select one of the ones that say cell) and change it to Gizmo. That stumped me too.

Don't need to update rtcomm.
because gizmo is sip, and sip is available in the default settings.

Heard it takes close to 1 WEEK.
But i ran out of invites, so i cant really help you with that.
but you can go to the IRC channel #maemo and ask for an invite.

I reserved a number last night for the first time and had an invitation in about an hour. Maybe I'm just really lucky.

I suspect it depends somewhat on the availability of numbers in the area code where you reserve. It might also help that I have a gmail address, but I doubt that is as big a factor.

Ok...got it now. And it works though I just get that recorded message on incoming calls. There must be a way to not have to press 1 to accept the call...

I got my GC invite within 12 hours of signing up.

I guess the "press 1" feature is called "call presentation". If you'd like the option to disable it, please suggest it here:
