No, not really. The shame is that updates have to be done by overwriting everything you have now. Thankfully this will cease to be an issue with Diablo.

Neat. I'm still considering it while building up my savings. Meanwhile I need to stop flashing every couple days. :o

Is the source code for each OS 2007 application available under GPL? Is it somewhat trivial to recompile an app to OS 2008 using Scratchbox, or are real programming skills required in most cases?

It's in Free's repository since long time now. There is a thread called leafpad, if you need more info..

edit: here it is http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=14510

edit2: @Dont, reading back the leafpad thread, maybe I didn't understand your question..

Quite possibly a restored backup.

Yes, I did restore my settings backup - that might be the reason.

For the Navicore part that was discussed earlier: I had the Navicore icon there on desktop but when clicking it, nothing happened - so it didn't open even any dialog to type in the licence code. Having read a while ago the other thread about Wayfinder/Navicore/Map app I assume that they're all the same product. So I guess I'll try to switch back to OS2007 and install the newest Map appliacation, see if it works, and put in my licence code to see if it opens the routing features as presented in the Navicore Personal. If not, I'll just install the original version - or call to the customer support ;)

Thanks to all for the comments, anyway.

Good - The 2008OS allowed my N800 to FINALLY see my DIR-655 Router. It would not work at all with 2007, but connects perfectly on the 2008 version.

Bad - Now my Stowaway keyboard can't connect!

After fooling with my newly unboxed N800 for a few hours and installing various apps, I was extremely pleased to discover that I could send text from my BT enabled Palm's notepad applet to the N800. I don't remember all the steps, but shazamm, it just plain worked, so easy.

Then, I upgraded to OS2008, and find that I cannot repeat the magic. Is it that this is not (yet!?!) enabled on OS2008? Or, have I not found the means or the right software package to install under OS2008?

The two devices see each other and accept each other as "trusted" but they will not transfer data. It seems that at some level something is missing? What? Anyone know? Can anyone else do this w/OS2008?

This is a shot in the dark, but I had some problems transferring data from my Palm to my N800, although I was certain I had done it successfully before.. everything looked OK as far as I could tell, but no data arrived on the N800. However, after a reset of the Palm PDA everything worked fine again.

I tried this. But it didn't help.

Are you doing this w/OS2008? If so, which apps. Under OS2007, I sent memos to the N800 from the Palm. Unfortunately I don't remember all the steps, just that it worked very easily.

I can send data from the N800 TO the Palm, but not the reverse?!?
