Re: Micro male to type A female? (USB plugs)
The n810 needs a MICRO-B male, or the one you listed plus the mini-to-micro I listed.

Re: Micro male to type A female? (USB plugs)
Just so I am clear, the cable that comes with the 810 is insufficient to use with a female to female adapter to get out to a thumb drive because the pin settings are wrong?

Re: Micro male to type A female? (USB plugs)
Correct, but you can probably use USBControl to switch between master and slave
http://konttoristhoughts.blogspot.co...-easy-way.html It's impractical for me because of the size of the cable too. |
Re: Micro male to type A female? (USB plugs)
The pins of the original cable are right, but it does not throw it into host mode automatically. The scripts work, or get one of the micro-b to mini-b adapters, scrape back the insulation and shielding and solder a small switch between the black and brown wires. The switch "on" (shorting) makes it an "A". Then get a retractable mini-B to USB A - the whole thing will be more compact.
http://www.x-tremegeek.com/templates...categoryID=308 has shorty cables and camera lanyards that turn into miniB to usbA. |
Re: Micro male to type A female? (USB plugs)
Thanks IntreidAnitpodean2 for the USBControl Link. It works great and I didn't even have to modify the cables. I used the Motorola SKN6252A Micro USB-B Male to Mini USB-B Female adapter coupled with the mini USB-B Male to USB-A Female adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y032X8 BTW, I have a N810. The USBControl program is simple and it just works without any X-term typing so even a newbie like me can use it. I have gotten the USB thumbdrives to work and also a USB keyboard. It's so cheap to buy these adapters, I bought 3 and modded 1 with the soldering method. It works, but not very professional looking. I would suggest you buy extra adapters and play around with them since it costs next to nothing. |

Dang, so close:
USB A Male to Micro B Male Adapter http://www.cablesunlimited.com/produ...roupcode=I3648 USB A Male to Micro A Male Adapter http://www.cablesunlimited.com/produ...roupcode=I3647 With a f-to-f adapter, this is the closest to the single-piece for micro to A female that we've been looking for. And which should I go for, Micro A or B? |
