The answer is ironing bugs :P.

And trust me, you wouldn't want to use it if there were show stopping bugs. Kinda like when I use the alpha and beta versions of the next Ubuntu releases (Hardy Heron right now). It's real irritating when an update breaks something and you have to fix it manually (track down whatever it is, fix it).

And that's with my desktop and laptop which dual boot. I can't even imagine doing that with my tablet which only runs one OS at the moment (though I guess if you also booted off MMC..)

It's funny how people always beg for earlier beta and alpha releases, but always scream about them being "unfinished garbage" when they get them. :D

Definitely a worthwhile time investment, if only to get the initfs with USBNet recovery and a small, bootable OS2008 backup (I currently have a pristine OS on the built-in flash, a big primary OS2008 and a smaller Debian partition on the internal SD).

Still, with the limited amount of users Nokia has internally you can be sure that once they release it tons of bugs will be found. The problem with releasing a "real beta/alpha" is : people don't believe you if you tell them it's for testing purposes only :)

Haha yeah. You get that on the Ubuntu forums alot especially in the developmental forum. "Blah blah this is garbage, this one is going suck big". Few people remember that they're using a beta. Maybe, it's because we've all been spoiled by Google's Beta apps (where an app is in beta forever.. like gmail lol). Though it's given there will always be bugs to be found, I would just hope they wouldn't be show stopping.

And GeneralAntilles, I'll be making a bootable OS2008 on the internal memory card of my n800 soon. :) Just checking out things I want to do (writing down what I want to backup from my current install, and then I want to see if I can get the screen rotate working with it. It'd make reading pdfs nicer). My plan is to then use the built in flash for Diablo.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before by others elsewhere(I'm too busy to search right at the moment). But, can they post a thorough list of apps that will automatically work on Diablo and can we add apps to a list that will be checked to make sure those apps that are not on the Diablo list work before Diablo release? This is so everyone who's ported an app on Maemo, Nokia or elsewhere will have time to port properly. Please also for newbies and linux challenged(like me :) ) can those of you who are testing Diablo wright step by step guides for users who have Dual boot, KDE, Debian, DosBox, etc... so we don't accidently create a big mess with Diablo. As far as I know you won't need to "port" your apps to diablo - the bora/chinook break was to prevent that.
