Re: N810 screen compared to N800
yes there is a way to disable it and this is it.... you need the emelfm2 filemanager to do it... you must also have becomeroot installed
1. go into xterm and type sudo gainroot 2. type emelfm2 and hit enter...this will launch emelfm2 with root priveleges 3. make sure to tap the green "H" in the upper left hand corner so that it has a slash going through it...this enables you to view hidden files. 4.go to /usr/lib/mce/modules/ and delete the following file only... libfilter-brightness-als.so this will disable the light sensor so that the screen will not dim but also the keyboard lights whenever you type not only when needed. edit: you have to reboot for the deleteion to take effect |

Instead, rename it (libfilter-brightnes.als.so.backup is a good option) in case you want it back later. |
Re: N810 screen compared to N800
ive deleted this file since day one...no ill effects, if someone is wanting to disable the sensor what is the sense in keeping it.

The best practice is to always back up important system files when you're messing around. There are a million and one reasons why you might want things back later. Besides, it's not like keeping a multi-KB file around costs you anything. |
