Ok, call me stupid, but what does that command do? Does it update the repositories manually?

the apt-get install -f command tells apt try and fix any remaining dependency problems by installing missing packages; or removing packages whose dependencies cannot be resolved.

Apt does not like doing anything with broken packages installed on the machine.. it just fails.. apt-get -f install tries to fix that.

Oh, ok. Well, I don't have any broken packages. I just have a repos list that won't refresh.

Just because the application manager doesn't show any problems with packages means nothing... the maemo application manager hides a lot and skips what would normally be severe warnings by apt..

the only real way to know the stability of your systems repo's is by using apt on CLI.

What is the out of running apt-get update?

heh. Nothing really. I just didn't know you could do that, nor that the application manager was really a frontend for apt. I thought it was something above and beyond that. Plus I'm more a BSD guy, so I'm more familiar with working with ports than with apt or deb packages.

Oh, btw. I wanted to post and let you know that I figured out my problem with the repositories. Apparently something was borked in my actual install (too much experimenting maybe) and the install eventually crashed, forcing me to reflash my entire device to fix it. Since then I've had no repository issues. Not sure if it was something I did or the repository issues from earlier, but either way this is fixed, just FYI.
