If that sheet of plastic goes for more than a year without a visible scratch, the price somehow doesn't seem that outrageous anymore. I've tried DIY protectors, but never managed to get more than a few weeks of useful life out of them.

I now use a Schutzfolien24 protector, but I still think the NuShields are the best and they now (finally) have Nokia models. NuShields don't have adhesive backs, but cling to the screen all by themselves. They also have great writing feedback, which -- due to the abysmal HWR of the Tablets -- is obviously of limited use.

The "factory provided" screen cover actually isn't a screen cover at all, just a cheesy piece of "shrink wrap" like you peel off of many things these days. Get a real screen protector, like the Boxwave Clear Touch. As for your styli, any dirt or grit on the end will do a number. Take a good look under a hand lens - if there are any small imperfections causing the problem it should be possible to buff them down.

I have the boxwave anti-glare for my N800, and not only does it work well, I think it improves the stylus and finger experiences - it feels emotionally safer to touch the screen, and the screen (since it is no longer glossy) "sticks" less to your desired pointing object.

ok reading this i need a new screen protector but on amazon there are lots

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_...tector&x=0&y=0

nu screen protectors are £6 for 2 + £2 shipping to the uk = £8 for 2 screen protectors

so £4 for 1 screen protector thats alot of money but are they worth it

Most definitely, that buys a lot of peace of mind! But don't cheese out to save a few bucks, Boxwave product ($12.95) is far superior to those shown on the page you linked. A bit fussy to install, but I've managed a couple of them. Once on, they are invisible, and (VERY important with touch screen) do not mess up the tablet's responsiveness and add no nasty chemicals etc.

I would also like to know what screen protectors on that page are worth buying, will the cheap ones do the job?

I got the "nice" one - $12 (effectively 6 sterling excluding vat) for a single protector from BoxWave. I've used it for over a year - it's designed to be usable for a very, very long time, you can even take it off and wash it with soap and water. It's way better than the cheaper protectors I used to get in packs (Fellowes WriteRight, anyone remember those?) for my Palm devices that looked like crap about 10 minutes after you put them on.

I also wish to have advice about screen protectors, is it worth getting the cheap ones or spending money on a good one and also what one to get.
The link posted earlier has some cheap ones and some higher priced ones but could somebody tell me what one they think is best.
Heres the link again.
