As per the docs, the "light" version is supposed to allow https as well, provided the client uses "automatic" proxy configuration. This doesn't seem to work with the tablets though, despite the network connection properties dialog having the appropriate checkbox.

Yeah, HTTP, HTTPS, and IIRC POP3 and IMAP are part of the default protocols.

I want to set up a VPN anyway... but I'll try tethering over BlueTooth first.
