Don't try to conserve battery that much, just buy cheap hong kong batteries and replace as needed.

Since the only way for this sucker to achieve the former is not to use it, and that's not very useful, the latter is not a bad option.
They don't take that much space and they're very light.

I got a cheap charger on ebay, cost about $10 including a crappy battery apparently from Nokia, which I tossed. The charger is about a year and a half old and still working fine.

Search for sido batteries on ebay, they usually sell a pack with 2 batteries, a desktop charger to be used with the standard 2mm plug charger (not very sophisticated but it seems to work), an usb retractable charging cable and some othe useless gadget (a strap, a leather case), for around 10-12 euros shipped.

Are you all referring to N800 battery charger? I have yet to find a charger for N810 which is the forum of this thread, N810.
