Got problem too while trying to implement camera use in mnotes and python.

Just curious, how does one change the fps? Can it be done from the command line or in a configuration file? I've been using Knips for stills because the center button of the cursor pad can be used as the shutter release.

its a gstreamer option in the liqbase implementation, dunno how its handled in other apps.

You'd probably have to recompile it, I found the following line in the knips source (in Control.cpp):

"video/x-raw-rgb,bpp=24,depth=24,framerate=(fraction)8/1 ! "
I'm not a C[++] programmer and I haven't studied the GStreamer API in depth so I do not know the ins and outs of how to properly format the framerate argument properly.

Or you could recompile liqbase and edit liqart.c to use 65293 (I think, I don't have xev on my tablet to check) instead of 65475 for the png saving function to change the button it uses to the center one. Sorry, I forgot to add that :).
