Skype does not support video calls on the N810, unlike Gizmo. For talking, I'd guess they're roughly the same, although I prefer gizmo as it uses less CPU (=longer battery life) when idle.

i use skype because tons of people have it and i can still use voice chat.... i was also rather disapointed that skype does not support video chat :(

Truth is, who you want to communicate with determines which package to use. That give Skype the edge. Rumors are that eBay want's to sell Skype and Google is a potential buyer.

any idea why Skype doesn't support video chat on n810 but it works on Windows desktops? Is there any workarounds?

Skype is proprietary (=closed source & protocols) so no workarounds are possible, unfortunately. Based on some posts on their forums the educated guess is that their video codec is not optimized enough for ARM based MIDs.

Google pretty much wrote the Jingle video specification themselves. They've just forgotten to implement it.
