it runs fast and smooth normally. I started this project because I was unwilling to accept that I had purchased a machine with graphics slower than the PDA it replaced. the numerous liqbase screens are my personal confirmation that it is infact possible to do the different tasks in a different more optimized manner. I have created a playground of small interrelated components which revolve around the GTD (getting things done) principle, I can make notes take pictures and get my ideas into the system and more importantly I can retrieve them at any point with the nice and slick graffiti view :) The interface I've wanted for my applications has always been intended to become a completely resolution independent and should be extremely responsive and intuitive. the version I am building now takes those elements and binds them together. It also cures a major development problem by breaking development up into small discrete chunks which myself and others can use to expand the playground. If its not your cup of tea you are free to use something else :) |
Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
lcuk: I think you just described your project quite well.

Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
It's incredible that Liqbase actually slows you down, Infinitydevil. Maybe you should reflash or something.
As to the aim of Liqbase, for the current version, I find it perfect as an instant way to leave notes for myself. It opens very quickly, I open the drawing program and put in the information, no keyboard to worry about. Then I can get the information back out instantly by looking for it on the Graffiti Wall. You can see how it is generally used by looking at the youtube videos. They are entertaining and enlightening. Lewis and Clark would have loved this for their Journals. But I don't think they had tablets. |
Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
lcuk,
I can see that all programming chunk/programs fit within a small window of area of the total work space. Do you foresee that those chunks can be other programs easily ported to work with liqbase? Do they have to be c, c++ language or do you foresee a python or module options? So far, it's so cool. |
Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
I am amazed someone finds liqbase slow - I think it is one of the faster (if not the fastest) apps for the IT considering its features - hand drawing, sorting of hand-drawn notes, retriveing them in Graffiti wall mode, picture viewing (not the best though), book reader, the smoothest scrolling of any app out there, and what not. Damn, you can even just stare at stars and even find lunch - as Lcuk pointed out. That's quite a lot in a VERY FAST package I must say.

Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
Maybe I bumped into something odd along the way.
I'll definitely give the youtube videos a look. A walkthrough will most likely give me the "a ha!" moment I need to understand it. |
Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
I've tested liqbase in the past and thought it would be fun to do so again. Because I run OS2007 (and intend to continue with that), I had checked out the source from SVN and built it myself, that worked very well indeed.
However, it looks like the SVN repo isn't being updated? I did an svn update just now and nothing happened. On the garage site it looks like the last change was 3 or 4 months ago. |

I had to focus on curing certain architectural issues with the current build and could not just manipulate the existing source easily (certainly not in a way that svn wouldv been happy with..) It will be resumed v soon (gotta get over my flu first) it should also include the library and advanced rendering branch :) |
Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui
Ok, thanks - I'm looking forward to playing with the code again.
As for SVN... I really wish Garage would use GIT as its preferred software version control system. I've used CVS for many years, and SVN is a lot like it. But GIT is just incredibly much more flexible. I use it for everything, and getting something wiped out from e.g. my laptop is not a problem, as I just keep cloning/pulling the repo to all my other computers all the time.. great for portability checks too. |
