Thank you so much! Choosing Bluetooth as the GPS device and leaving its setting black did the trick. I've been maemo mapperless for almost a year because of this! Thanks again to everyone.

What works consistently for me is starting MiniGPSD prior to bringing up Maemo Mapper. The trick with choosing bloototh GPS and leaving it blank is inconsistent - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. What is interesting that all other GPS programs (including navit) except Maemo Mapper and Mapper find and activate file GPS just fine.

I've only had it not work once or twice, and restarting the program has fixed it. Since the bug has been filed, hopefully it'll be fixed in the next release now that there is a bug ticket for it and the root problem has been identified: https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/ind...id=29&atid=185 Vote for it everyone!
