No. It's not a cell phone. When you are tethered to your LG (I have one, too, a Shine), you essentially using the data portion of the phone as a modem. If it's a 3G phone, a fast one...:)

To use your 810 to make cell phone calls would require some fancy BT streaming, both at the phone and at the 810.

As others have stated, you can use VoIP through the 'modem' connection. I have an Asterisk PBX at my house, and my n800 connects to it whenever it's got a 'net connection, either WiFi or 3G, @home or out and about...

No, phone link allows you to "see" data stored on your phone, such as pictures and videos. When you use the standard file manager on your N810 you will "see" your phone and its contents, assuming you have created a partnership and are "paired".

Re: Bluetooth Phone

You can setup your N8*0 as a what we called a mobile internet phone. You need to have a WiFi signal or good 3G signal from your cell phone to make it work. Your IT cannot be used as a headset at this moment until someone develops a software to make it work.
You can checkout what I said at here.

Phonelink actually can BT to your cell phone(some phones, not all of them work), to send and receive sms. It also can dial the phone number on your N8*0 and send it to your cell phone and make phone call, but the voice will go from your cell phone to your BT headset, not through the N8*0.

I haven't tried NoHands yet, but it looks like what the OP was asking for, to me.
As for PhoneLink, that only works on non-crippled phones, so people in my situation (Telus, or similarly evil companies) likely won't be able to use it that way.

i could have sworn that someone had been wanting something like that for the tablets for a long while now...

yes and no, the N810 will just be acting as a expensive remote control of the phone.

Righto. That was a wee bit confusing. With phonelink, or similar program, if i hook up the 810 to my cell phone with bluetooth. I can send and receive sms (txts?) and tell my phone to call someone (or answer a call?). All the sound and such will only be through the phone though, hence the need for a bluetooth headset for the phone. Or am I just not understanding this.

that would be correct.

I would expect so... Why doesn't someone with a scratchbox setup handy give NoHands a spin and see how it works as-is? I may look into it, if I have the time, but I don't have the GTK knowledge to do it myself.

Not 100% on the SMS, but if phonelink supports your phone, then yes. Its like that phone app on the palm (my T3 came with it).
