Really? What would that mean if you could get it working? That we could use applications built for Gears offline without Gears? Or... are you just referring to rigging an RSS reader?

localStorage is the HTML5 equivalent to Gears. However I don't know if it is compatible with Gears or if the existing Gears applications are compatible with it if it is different.

Session Storage however seem to work. It can be used to store key value pairs and probably can be used for offline RSS storage (like storing the news as text and the pictures as data:uris... Worth investigating I think :) But not persistent, we need localStorage for that. :(

New libwebkit with localStorage support:

And for 770:

Interesting news site, works good with iPhone user-agent. No localStorage though.

Thanks for getting this working, Bundyo! :D

So... what do we have to do now in order to use localStorage for RSS?

Write one? :)

It was a needed brick, I'll try to get something running.

Feedcircuit is nice, but it doesn't seem to get RSS feeds right sometimes for caching..requires alot of editting to identify content tags.

easy solution (that works for me, especially because rss feeds are mostly about the text, not "full web" or pictures/graphics): use skweezer proxy to reformat rss items in feedcircuit. this rips entire (skweezer'd) page---no need to edit content tags to be sure to get entire post content.
