Thanks Fionn, I managed to get the icon to appear again:)

For anyone interested, I first uninstalled both Advanced Power and Advanced Power Monitor then deleted the advanced-power configuration folder with:

rm -r /etc/osso-af-init/gconf-dir/apps/advanced-power/

then reinstalled Advanced Power and Advanced Power Monitor and the icon now appears.

Re: unable to install advanced-power

I'm still having this problem as well. I've also noticed that the Application manager is asking me to update advanced power, and reports the program as broken; however, the programs are still working normally.

Re: unable to install advanced-power

Today there were a lots of pending updates on my N810 which I applied, and the advanced power app disappeared.

Re: unable to install advanced-power

Ok, I installed the "maemo-control" and with this I could go into the Control Panel->Services, and I disabled apmonitord and powered from starting up during boot. Then I was able to uninstall the program, but I cannot install in again...

Re: unable to install advanced-power

So I was able to install the advanced power monitor by following the instructions given by darbax (in conjunction with what I've written above, which I had to do again after being unable to install it the first time).

However, it doesn't show any of the old information (battery life, etc). Now it just says "Start APMD" abd "Settings." After hitting the first button, it just goes grey, and hitting the "Setting" one doesn't do anything.

Hoping someone out there knows what is going on!
