Re: What apps can I run on the N900?
Sad to see there is not going to be a lot of apps for N900 at launch.
N900 is turning out to be hacker tool much like the N810. Android has been around for a relatively short period but yet has a wealth of apps. Nokia will have to carry the can apps wise as was the case in N810 - built in apps are decent. Maemo developers are great at System level coding but not so good at UI level. N900 is a great great device but shame about application developer support. It may not go mainstream due to this shortcoming. I hope I'm wrong for Nokia's sake. |

Actually..
Can't the n900 already run Maemo 4 apps from the get go? Though it wouldn't be optimized. |

What do I care. If the browser is good as advertised then I'm sold. Though I want this device to go big mainstream. Fingers crossed.

The beauty is that they are plugins for the IM system so appear built-in to the OS once installed. I believe you just add them to your contacts and it will show if they are online/offline, very neat. Or you can use a standalone app like Pidgin if you prefer. (though I can't remember if that has been ported over yet) |
