Just wait for the production-ready firmware, which is 44-xx most likely. Stop asking about outdated internal firmware releases. The first number signifies the week of the year.

The amount of noise on the forum is becoming unbearable.

Easy buddy. I didn't know it was internal firmware. reading the above link to the thread made things clearer.

I can confirm that 1.2009.42-11 is the software version that the current devices shipping are based on i.e. it equals PR1.0.

Why are you shipping 4 weeks old firmware?
or does the meaning of the numbers change after feature freeze, i.e. 42 does not mean week 42?

No, we don't. But we took that week 42 software built and kept on finetuning and improving it instead of rebuilding the complete stack for a new built.

Re: New maemo 2009.42-11 SW out???

The 300 Nokia N900 devices we loaned in the Maemo Summit include software release from early October. This software cannot be updated with Nokia Software Update (NSU) even if NSU identifies the software we are shipping now i.e. 42-11. This is due to updates in the lower software stack in the pre-production models. People would need to use a special software that is able to update the lower stacks of the software of the devices. We are currently investigating whether and how we can enable this.

when we do a software update on maemo, does it work like it does with symbian where you have a completely new (start all over) install back to factory settings so that you have to redo all the settings again, or is it like upgrading your vista to win7 where settings remain the same but you get the new software loaded?

On Symbian 3rd Fp2/5th editions [every phone out in the last couple years] the upgrade process has UDP [User Data Preservation], so it keeps all your data...

This is good. I have been using an e90 since it came out in july 2 years ago. So didnt know that.

That makes getting software upgrades much more palletable! :)
