Re: "The wonder of you" VNC+rdesktop+diablo = fun!
Hey, I was wondering what theme you are using on your N770? It seems pretty cool. BTW I have stopped using Hack OS because of the crashing, need something stable for VNC and CarMan.

Step by step to setup rdesktop, the most basic way, once you get it working, you can then go fancy :-)
On your win PC: rdesktop works only with - win media center edition - win XP pro - vista pro? home edition wont do it - win 7, dont know Right click on My Computer>Properties>Remote 1st block is Remote Assistance; 2nd block is Remote Desktop. You window does not have remote desktop if you do not see the 2nd block. Some people has tweaked it and made it work though. 1st pic Setup user: - Check the "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer - Click "Select Remote Users..." > Add user ; user must pass word protected port forward: (only for Linksys WRT54GS, other router should be similar) Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt>ipconfig IP Address 192.168.1.xyz This is your computer local ip address. This is the port you would like to forward to when you connect from outside your house, say your office, you would like this computer wake up, this is your local ip address. on your browser, go web site "192.168.1.1" to your router admin menu. Type in your User Name/password to gain access or User Name Admin (admin?) password "blank" If you dont know, and would like to proceed, press the reset button at the back of the router, it would reset everything to factory, including your own router settings. (see pic) Setup>Applications & Gaming Put in the followings Applications rdesktop Start 3389 End 3389 Protocol Both IP Address 192.168.1.xyz Enable check the xyz is your local ip address, the one you got from Command prompt>ipconfig>ip address click Save Settings "Settings are successful." (see pic) What you have done, is to tell whoever knock at your network, will wake up only the computer with the ip address 192.168.1.xyz. Make sure you have a pair of strong/secure username/password, otherwise, anybody in the world will be able to get into your computer. Now you need your street ip address, the ip address that identifies your router. On your browser, go website "whatismyip.com", this will give you your street ip address. (See pic) Again, there is a local ip address, your computer ip address within your network, the 192.168.1.xyz; and there is a street ip address, and it is different. You are done with your winPC for now now you are working on your tablet (mine is N810) dl and install pyRDesktop 1.5 run pyRDesktop: Name: anything Host: your street 192.168.1.xyz Username: the user you added to allow connect remotely Password: password you set to log into your winPC Domain: (leave it blank) Disk Sharing..... leave it all blank for now, you can play with it later click Connect, you should magically connect to your computer via rdesktop assume you are in your house, your own network. Once succeeded, you then replace Host:192.168.1.xyz with your street ip address, you should now be able to connect too while you are still in your house or your own network. Now here comes the challenge, take your tablet to your office, i.e., you are now away from your own network, the same setup should still allow you to connect to your computer via internet, you must use your street ip address, not your local ip address. If not, look into your firewall, it may block your connection. This is a very down to earth connection. Once you able to make connections, you can then change parameters to increase securities. First is to set a good secure user/password pair; second is to change the listening port away from 3389, the default, using parameter :15 VNC is quite similar, maybe I will jot it down..... next weekend? Or whoever feel like it :) Enjoy, bun N810/Diablo/SD boot |
Re: "The wonder of you" VNC+rdesktop+diablo = fun!
To use rdesktop, N800 would have to use the onscreen keyboard once you are in, Start>Programs>Accessories>Accessability>On-screen keyboard, it works pretty well.
For the N810, yes you can use your keyboard, most of the time. FireFox is a lot well behave than IE, interesting :-) , for one, FFox allows your tablet keyboard to switch between letters and blue Fn keys, mainly numerals, but IE would not, or I have not been able to figure out. FFox rules! bun |
