You should vote for the brainstorm, an app that can universally recognize headset remotes is hopefully coming up :)

According the the second message in this post, the WH-701 headset doesn't work...

Too bad, I would have bought them myself...

According to Nokia's official website, it was compatible with the N810 though. Maybe it's just not supported by the software, yet?

What a shame, they claim it to be a N-series phone and doesn't even provide the commonly used music controls.

Nokia is loosing big time.

It's an Nxxx phone and neither N800 or 810 were music phones. Also my previous N82 was a N-series and not a music phone.
I think you oughta look for the xpressmusic series, N900 was advertised as a hackerphone ;)

Regarding remote controlling the phone when it is in your pocket. I had the idea of trying to use the acceleration sensor to sense "taps" on the phone from the outside of the pocket. It's like giving commands to the phone in Morse code. E.g. ".. .." might mean "previous song", "..." next song. Shaking or rotating is another way, but that is not very convenient when the phone is in the pocket. You might also be able to sense taps on different sides of the phone, as that is basically doing a small rotation in different directions.

I never found the time to play around with is tough. But if someone else would pick up on this idea, I'd love to know about it.
