Then you should probably read the FAQ first, in particular the last two questions: http://vagalume.igalia.com/faq.html

# The web services URL (used for almost everything, including playing music)
I have access to the API account info, and have my key and secret, but don't find any documentation for the web services URL. Someone please help me out here, and I'll write a guide layman folk like me can understand.

Same for this little elusive tidbit...

I read that, and its what I found confusing. Since you seem to understand it so well, why don't you explain it to me. Not the reason the data is absent, but how to add it.

den the older version works fine-just used it-looks like a bug with the new version-unless someone wants us to use libre fm instead of last fm-major conspiracy in the works

Am I the only one getting an error message when I try to install vagalume 0.8 on the n900? "Error: cannot find files." or the equivalent in Swedish

ok i finally got to the bottom of the story-that is for $3.00 USD a month it will work-yes folks pay and play on the latest version of vagalume if you want to use last fm-now if someone could do an app that downloads all the music to the memory card similar to streamripper then that $3 would be worth it

And if I need a file to play it, why doesn't the app retieve it for me? I don't even see any place to download this file. Since the file is needed, why not give instructions on how to get it, then import it into the N900? Or put "for rocket scientists only" in the details...

as far as i understand it, it's not about "a file" you would need to download. the problem is the API-key within this file. the API-key doesn't identify you as a user, it identifies the developer who wrote the application.

because accessing last.fm from your N900 violates their terms of use, the author of the application asks you not to change vagalume in a way so that it could access last.fm. doing so will result in last.fm banning his key... and all vagalume versions that run on real tablets and can still access last.fm.

so the proper way to do it is apply for your own API-key, modify vagalume and wait till you get banned.

this is what i understood. could still be wrong, but at least it's a good story. ;)

That's correct, thanks for summarizing it.

(and also note that Vagalume does not only run on Internet Tablets, it works on any GNU/Linux distribution -Debian, Ubuntu, etc.- and it is used by many people who haven't ever touched a Nokia Internet Tablet)

So the new version requires you to pay a subscription but the old version works even if you don't pay anything? Is that what happens?
