It just needs something to hold it down from above...some sort of "rubber or plastic" surround, that encases the port, and is braced against something inside. I've had no issues with my Motorola Q's micro USB, and I've had to use a miniUSB adaptor everytime I want to connect it to something (router, PC, etc).

The worst part of my issue with the 900's port was that the metal band came apart at the seam, before it detatched from the circuit board. I was surprised that it was only "crimped" instead of welded/soldered. I don't think it would have been much of a problem but the fit is so tight with the power plug, that its really hard to not "wiggle it lose" when removing.

Sony Alpha also has micro.

Seen it in some card readers too.
