Re: N900 Wifi issue
my ip address is of the type 190.168.x.x
the gateway is of the type 192.168.x.x and the netmask is as you said. With the Ipconfig i see that the DHCP is not enabled. Could this be the problem?? |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
Ok, those addresses are in private range so NAT should be on. Did you have this issue just with your N900 or with all devices?
Are you using "ipconfig" on what device? |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
Now i have a wifi connection with my laptop, the ipconfig procedure is with my laptop too. I could not connect my nintendo dsi with wifi, and now i have the same problem with the n900.
So, with exception of my laptop, all other devices could not connect to the wifi |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
Ok.. Can you tell me what operating system you have? (e.g Windows XP, Vista or 7)
Did you by yourself install your laptop to use your internet connection? Do you remember if you configured your IP addresses or did you just connect to the network? Try typing the command "ipconfig /all" in command prompt in your pc. Please paste the information given about your wireless adapter. |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
I use windows XP. The first time i use my laptop with wifi, i connect without problem, then it a problem with the connection, then my brother configure it with help of someone of the carrier.
The information of the adapter: Adaptador Ethernet wireless connection: DNS sufix: *nothing* description: Intel<R> PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection do you need all the numbers and physical direction? |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
Ok.. I think your brother set the configuration manually and the router does not have DHCP on. To change the situation for automatic configuration is something that is a bit too tricky to explain here.
Therefore you might have to manually set your phone settings as well. In your laptop go to control panel, network adapters and your wireless network adapter properties (right click). Check TCP/IP settings to find your configuration. (Don't have an XP at the moment to check the exact path to configuration data, so just trying to remember what to do). Don't change anything. If you have "Automatic settings", then DHCP should be on and you phone should connect automatically. If not you'll just get the information what to configure from here. Some data you can also get from "ipconfig /all". In your phone, go to your wlan settings and set the following: IP-address: use the same that your laptop has, but change the last number to a larger value (like that +10) Subnet mask: Use the same as in your laptop (could be something like 255.255.255.0) Default gateway: Use the same as in your laptop I think you'll have to set DNS as well. Don't know your settings but you can use google DNS if you can't get that information from your PC. Primary: 8.8.8.8 (or the one used in your laptop) Secondary: 8.8.4.4 (or the one used in your laptop) |
Re: N900 Wifi issue
Dont hit me but have you who have experienced problems with wifi switched n900 off and on. That fixed my problem with wifi connections that i had already configured and could not connect.
