Meanwhile, Maemo Mapper merits most. But it starts zoomed way out, and the hardware zoom buttons do not work. |

try: http://www.google.com/maps/m
with the maemo geolocation plugin, it works not bad but could be better. you need the browser-mouse to move arround or zoom in, the only thing is that i dont know how to zoom out. |

Have you tried this?: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38542&page=2
It wraps the iPhone Google Maps page in a Qt + webkit app. Zooming out doesn't work atm (need to work out how the iPhone gesture stuff is done and passed to the javascript) and it seems to crash on Diablo (debugging anyone?) |
Re: Is there any kind of Google Maps app/integration in the N900?
Just want to say thanks to everyone for the helpful posts. http://www.google.com/maps/m works with maemo-geolocation.
As everyone mentioned, with hover/cursor mode in the browser, I can pan around and zoom in by double tapping, but I cannot zoom out. I opened that URL in my desktop browser to test, and I noticed that the typical + and -, and mouse scroll up/down does not zoom the maps in and out. So what key shortcut/mouse action actually is required to zoom the maps in and out? Once that's figured out then we can find a way to pass that to the javascript or something. |

How are the LED's on the N900? How many LED's and are they customizable for alerts?
And what would you say is like one or a couple of the N900's top strengths besides the 32GB and physical keyboard...or like big advantages or stuff that's worth it over the Nexus One or Android. I think I still might want to go ahead and buy this one and give it a shot just because of the physical keyboard. Don't know if I could deal with a phone without a physical keyboard. :( I think I might be able to last with the Ovi Maps and I can always use Google Maps/Mapquest in the browser easily right? And I have 2 Garmin's at home so that's good. Thanks. Also is there any way to tether from the N900 yet? Like if I wanted to tether my T-Mobile 3G to my laptop/computer/PS3/360, I can do it on my G1 easily with a wireless tether app for HTC Android phones...would be nice if the N900 could tether. Not really needed but it'd be a plus. |

So, don't expect it on the N900 like... ever. But I can't complain since this web-app is 99% of what I used the S60 version for so I'm a happy Maemo guy! |
