Re: virtual keyboard not working after fw update
My N900 virtual keyboard is not poping up at all.
I already tried restarting the phone several times, changing various settings on both "Text Input" and "Language & Region", but nothing solved the problem. I am not sure if it stopped working after flashing the device to PR1.1 or after installing some apps, but I guess the last is the most likely. Does anyone know about a related bug or conflicting app? |
Re: virtual keyboard not working after fw update
Just got it working again... but there was no change at all...
It seems like an intermittent bug, the kind of it is hard to find the cause. I've read other threads that mentioned a lot of different apps conflicts that could be causing problems with V.K., so I guess it is an O.S. bug. |
Re: virtual keyboard not working after fw update
Its a very easy problem to take care of.I've sent the solution in another thread but i'll send it here too, afterall nothing's fun enough without sharing it with others..Ok now,Here it is,I'll go through it step-wise..
1: Open application manager and go to uninstall 2: Uninstall MSCIM or SCIM that you have 3: Open X-Terminal 4: sudo gainroot 5: cd /etc/event.d(There's a space after 'cd') 6: ls 7: After 'ls',see if 'scim' is there in that list that comes up,if its there just remove it with the following command.I'll just write it as '8' 8: rm scim Now type '9' and '10' exactly as i do, 9: /usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 10: /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules Even if '10' doesnt work, taking care of step '1' to '9' should make the virtual keyboard work.Let me know how it went.. |
