Re: PR1.1 over the air

OK, I tried moving the download area following the advice on the "free up rootfs space" wiki page. I ran commands:

$ mkdir -p /home/user/MyDocs/apt-archive-cache/archives/partial
Now execute apt-get with the -o option:

apt-get -o dir::cache=/home/user/MyDocs/apt-archive-cache dist-upgrade

The upgrade seem to kick off, and was quite happy for quite a while (like 30 mins or so). It updated a bunch of packages. Yay. But then all of a sudden it crapped out with some message "out of disk space" in someplace or another.

Now Im left with some guide of half updated monster. So exchange 2003 sync works, BUT I cant make or receive phone-calls or drive any audio output at all. Shite.

And trying to run the update again fails with masses of package conflicts, which is hardly surprising given the state of the thing.

So now I have to go fire up my old N95 and use that until I can figure this mess out.......

It sounds like you should give in and flash with the new firmware (see joppu's link above).

Re: PR1.1 over the air

question re the images. There is no UK specific 2.2 image whereas for 1.2 there is a UK variant.

I got my n900 in the uk. Sooooo, am I ok to use the 2.2 image marked as "global", or is the correct option to flash back to 1.2 "UK"
version.

ok, i went with the uk 1.2 version. It seemed to work.....

And fook me if the old girl doesn't remember all the applications you had installed and offers to go and fetch them for you again. Thats v. cool.

And now, it is updating to the latest firmware (2.2) over the air. Im soooooooo happy. Thanks for the pointers guys. :)
