switch off the automatic "switch to wlan" feature (and probably need to change scan interval to never as well), then use iwconfig et co to setup your wifi connection manually and doublecheck your routing.

yes, but when sharing internet connection, there is only one ip route (one gateway), as the "internal" wifi only has local access. it is no exactly the same.

I would love to use this at work to control N900 using VNC, but browse to Internet over 3G. nice way to sidestep our corporate content filter in a VNC window on my Mac.

I was wondering if it is possible to connect to wifi and 3g at the same time, so that I can use for instance synergy and smb with my laptop (ad-hoc, no internet) and also be connected on 3g for IM.

The default connection applet just disconnects 3g when you go on wifi.

just noticed because of fmms that n900 cannot be connected to wifi and 3g at the same time, you have to diconnect 1 and connect other...


pretty lame i think. my older nokias, n80, n95, n97 can do both at same time.

i hope this gets included in the future or am i wrong?

This is only an UI limitation. For instance, you can use your N900 as a WLAN access point with Joikuspot

no i mean, on my n97 i used wifi @ home or browsing but 3G was also connected for nokia email.

but if 3g works and shares via wifi then hopefully nokia will allow 2 connections in future update
