PadMae sounds great! I vote for that.

If we want I can create some more fancy icons.. I did this very minimalistic now but I sure am capable of doing something more spectaculor or graphic design classic..

Peanuts not included? :D

The original name came from the inspiration for the app, Memopad+ for PalmOS, so we're losing the easy association from that. Perhaps add a "Plus" to the name?

I don't see the point in adding "extensions" to application names. There will be only one "edition" of PadMae (or whatever name we end up using), and not several (Lite, Home, Professional, Ultimate, etc..). Most of that is just marketing and to differentiate between different variations of a product that have arbitrary limitations to be sold for a cheaper price. No point in adding "Ultimate" (or "Plus" for that matter) when there are no other variants.

I didn't know about Memopad+ for PalmOS, I thought Maemopad+ was named like that because Maemopad already existed.

I might be doing some hacking on Maemopad+ for Fremantle tonight, watch out.. (Oh, and can we stick to PadMae, or are there better suggestions? If so, please tell me :))

Yea, lets scratch the plus.. its an old marketing thing. And it is a problem on webadresses and such things..

I tweaked and did some stuff here.. what do you think of adding an orange element to each icon? to connect with the logo and such..

and whatabout that icon? would that be ok?..

whats lorem ipsum? link:Lorem ipsum

Lets stick wit PadMae. I like it alot and thp does too which is most important :)

thp: could you give me some details and confirmation on how I should package these icons? Am I doing right with these 48px pngs ? would you like me to name the files in a special manner so you easily can use them..

perhaps you could give me a zip with the "old" ones from the maemopad+ so I can name them correctly from start. I suppose I can find them on my n810 somewhere... ?

Memopad+ was named like that because Memo Pad existed (it was a built in PalmOS PIM app). I don't think there was ever a Maemo Pad app. :) Memopad+ was an awesome improvement on Memo Pad, hence the fond memories of it lingering into 2010. ;)

You can of course call your new app port whatever you want, and adding a "+" is awkward for URLs and packages. I was just explaining that the original name had a meaningful history with the advantage of free name recognition for those who remember the PalmOS days: Maemopad+ is the spiritual successor to memopad+.
