Re: widgets disappearing
Nokia thanks but……… naa you screwed it. This was a HUGE reason why the PR1.2 release was so delayed (read the statement bellow). And its still not fixed. And the music player widget is not fixed. I cant even use recaller as its a python widget which are unstable on hildon-home as nokia loves to leave things half baked. Nokia this is what apple get right, they only implemented something if it works. Maemo for me has to be restarted everyday along with a killall hildon-home/desktop. Rubish. I love it but maannnnnn im starting to get over the half baked crap. Why are these bugs still here??????????? Do you not know how to fix it???? Lol omg this is is funny. im just shitty.
And we are not officially getting meego and no flash 10.1. its like nokia have been good and listening to their customers or something. N900 so amazing but its currently just…………….disabled :S. before anyone uses my phone I have to killall hildon-desktop/home just to be embarrassed by how buggy it is _________________________________________ Quote:

Re: widgets disappearing
felbutss,
I think that widgets should be forbidden from extras completely :| Too much of problems with 1.2 lately. Just downgrading them back to testing and testing them again would be favour to end users. "problem" with Maemo is that it gives developers freedom to do whatever they want. It´s weird to read that bug comments where Nokia employee says that python is bad in widgets and some of employees says "seeing all the brain-damaged 3rd-party plugins written by 5-year-olds around"...so to speak that they recognize problem but don't care and see it as 3rd party problem. Even thought in that bug report people say that they have not installed anything from extras. Right now troubleshooting here goes like this - Yelp my system is slow/jerky/battery drainage etc. - Ok. Please uninstall all widgets and try it for couple of days |
Re: widgets disappearing
hi all, widget disappearing has never been a problem, until last night.
all of the sudden all the widgets just vanished from my desktop, i didnt reboot, didnt install anything or updates, it just happened while im sleeping. wtf is going wrong? just now it happened again, it was sitting on th desk, i didnt do anything to it, the widgets are gone. anyone experiencing the same piss taking issue? |
Re: widgets disappearing
I have found that making a few phone calls with quick succession causes this to happen. Doesn't matter whether you make or receive the calls, but 2 or 3 calls quickly after one another is enough to make this phone poo itself and all my widgets are gone.
Oh and putting a call on hold whilst answering a call coming through on call waiting is sure to make my widgets go down faster than a Taiwanese hooker. I've got Desktop activity manager running which helps me restore all my widgets quickly, but I found myself making and taking quite a few phone calls this arvo which wasn't much fun |
Re: widgets disappearing
Since I have installed Maemo PR 1.3, all widgets, except for RSS and Calendar, would disappear from my desktops after every reboot. (Also if I install or uninstall any widget.) Re-flashing Maemo didn't help.
Another observation: After I have re-placed the widgets on my desktops, some of them have disappeared from the list of widgets offered for putting on the desktop, some remain in the list. |

Re: widgets disappearing
I think my problem was unfortunately caused by desktop clock widget. Since removing from the desktop the problem has disappeared

Re: widgets disappearing
For me it was the currency exchange widget, now that I've removed that, no disappearing widgets, and I still use the following:
Mediaplayer FMTX Calendar Moon phase OMWeather Desktop clock widget Nameday RSS widget Recaller System info widget Caller ID widget Personal IP address All widgets updated to their latest versions (with devel repository enabled) |
