Have a look at this:

There's a test to see whether the keyboard sensor works. Also the last post on that thread offers a possible solution that might be worth trying:
Hey guys, had the same problem. Turned out the solution for me was the following:

-> Turn off virtual keyboard
-> Turn off the phone
-> Turn on the phone again
-> Turn on virtual keyboard

...and it worked. Good luck!

Re: On Screen Keyboard

I'm sorry for your problems, but I must thank you for the general info. I had no idea that the way to activate the vkeyboard was to click a textbox with the phone closed. I thought for sure there was some keyboard combination that I simply hadn't learned yet (btw, isn't there some kind of vkb you CAN call up with keypress combinations?)

Anyway I had pretty much resigned myself to not using the VKB. Thanks to you for letting me know how easy it really is!

So, about your problem, you did click SAVE after you checked off the VKB checkbox, yes? Just asking.

How are you going to get around without uninstall the 2 programs?
I would install the 2 programs when I travel....cant handle without virtual keyboard, especially the specail characters, <>*&^%, even your hardware keyboard 'Symb' does NOT work.
