starting with wednesday. (still great we have them now, btw. - it's cool to see how fast these seemingly small things adapt only a few hours after the announcement, literally.)

anyway, my bear friend from beloved cornwall, it's nothing but a funny anecdote... i don't believe anyone here reads something into it. it's just one of those phrases that may float around for a while ;)

That's all right, then. I have enough paranoia about all this for the entire community. I really, really don't think the IRC chat was meant to b exclusive (or they'd never have let me in!)

Yeah, it's gonna be hairy for a while.

The main thing keeping me here more than IRC is work. Easy to dash off comments here even while I'm doing coding or whatever... not so much IRC streams. This is why I need a job with Maemo MeeGo so I can kill two birds with a single stone like you do. ;)

You and me both, Texrat. I'm finding it interesting to try keep up the past few days. :)

usually i'm the one who's paranoid... but this time? i mean: they go and tear down the walls between our playground and the neighboring playground. our playground is full. the other one is empty. literally, really, absolutely empty. now who do you think will play in both playgrounds... or the one big playground that it is now? us or those invisible friends over there? i'm optimistic this time. :D

You don't have exclusive meetings in public IRC rooms. Of course it was neither meant to be exclusive nor was it exclusive nor does anybody think it was meant to be exclusive... But: From now on, each time we disagree, I'll shoot this one arrow... "Oh, RevdKathy, sure she'd know the whole truth... she's one of those who matter, isn't she?" - I'm a *-word, you know. ;)

I'm not sure who is worried they were left out of what.

In my case it comes from this morning's "Thanks Qgil" thread :
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...highlight=qgil

...where everyone (including you and your sauna fetish :-) sounds ecstatic about yesterday's IRC chat about MeeGo. I personally never use IRC, so in such cases I usually just take a peek at the logs to see what the fuss is about.

Only this time there were just a few lines about qgil signing in and then everyone leaving off to the #meego channel, for which there is no log of that session.

So it's a mix of actual frustration at feeling taunted (very unintentionally, of course) and joking reference at johnx's "parting words", as Benny explained.

For those who read SF, this must be how the last humans on Earth will feel when all the rest have upgraded to posthuman status after the Discontinuity :-)

I didn't say secret or hidden just not as easily accessible as this forum...

BTW, this forum is the place I thought of as the face or "front door" to maemo.org... at least that's what I understood the purpose of its acquisition to have been.

But then again, I was never a part of the conversations that took place then either. :)

My concerns then are the same as they as they are now. Why is it so hard to find archives posted on this forum of these conversations for those whose schedules do not permit participation or for others who chose to "hang out" here instead.
I realize that there is spontaneity involved and for all I know you all could be naked, sauna participants. It doesn't hurt my feelings any.
Forum posts are spontaneous too, but anyone can log on even months later to read what was posted to get a better understanding of the points that may have been made.

(heavy sigh) ...and just like back then we will pro'ly spin our wheels arguing about the above and miss the whole point entirely... openness
or, miss direct questions by some who could not attend like:

Will Nokia continue to use user groups like ours as cheap customer support or will customer support and product usability professionals be involved in this project from the start?

Is it hard? Click on "Community" above, then on IRC on the right. You'll find a link to this wiki page there. Enjoy.

Maemo, then not now.
MeeGo, now again. :)

these are the logs of #maemo.

when quim entered the chat on tuesday and invited people to ask questions about meego, he was asked to switch over to #meego (because the people "who matter" were there).

i guess he did, because i didn't find anything meego-related in the log afterwards. so the question is if there's a log for #meego.

But I didn't see qgil's name anywhere in those logs that start on Wednesday and still have no idea why Tuesday's Meego IRC was referred to in this thread >> http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...highlight=quim

...started BTW in order to thank Quim for clearing up fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Ironical, ain't it. :D

BTW, I do thank Quim for his presence here and realize very well the thin line he must walk sometimes.
Being contrary to that wasn't the point of my post.
