As I said, try it. It is not expensive (I see that it costs 25€ incl. taxes where I live) and YMMV. |

But I'll definitely try it out for myself soon, thanks for the advice! |
Re: N900 as mobile DSLR camera storage
If you try the USB-host way, the cable issue is easy: just use a regular (type A) female-to-female adapter. These extenders are common and cheap. Plug your camera cable in one side, the N900 cable in the other...

Re: N900 as mobile DSLR camera storage
If you got the money get the wi-fi (battery) grip for the camera and you should be able to connect it to the N900 through ftp function.
I will get the wi-fi transmitter for my Canon 5D Mk II and see how it.works. Would be awesome to be able to get em into the phone and be able to upload content right a way. Wouldnt recommend buying the wi-fi grip if you plan to upgrade your camera in the near future, kind of expensive... |

I'll try the on the go usb bridge thing first, that's a handy thing to have anyway! |
Re: N900 as mobile DSLR camera storage
Totally understandable :)
One thing that you might want to have a look at is this device for future use, pretty "cheap" but probably a life saver when out travelling. I will get one and use the wifi for studio/ location work. Check this link about the hyperdrive: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1002/10...drivealbum.asp Goodluck and please post if you get everything to work :D |
Re: N900 as mobile DSLR camera storage
That's definitely a very tempting device! But that's a little far in the future for me I'm afraid, and by that time I'll probably have a new camera and just use wifi to my phone with either a wifi battery grip or sd card. One less thing to carry around :P
I'll keep you updated when I get things working (in any way), hope my phone will arrive in a few days! |
