I would be very interested in seeing
1)your tutorial on enabling the mouse cursor on the n900, as well as
2) whether or not you know of a way to control a computer screen with the n900 using x2x; i.e. exactly the opposite method.

Really no way I can think of to control you computer from the N900 using x2x. But, bluemaemo should be in the repose for your N900. It will let you control the Mouse/keyboard on you computer with your N900 among other devices.

That is a nice trick and it works for me in the sense that I do get access to the n900 and I can type characters with my PC keyboard.

However N900 interprets it as if I am typing on its keyboard, meaning when I type 123 on my PC keyboard N900 displays qwe, and if I type qwe on my PC, well it displays qwe again. If I press the Function key on N900 and then press 1 on my PC keyboard it displays 1. It is not convenient at all.
Further at some point the Enter key began opening and closing the virtual keyboard instead of marking end of line. I got the N900 a week ago so I am yet to get familiar with it.

Actually I am running Ubuntu in Virtual Box on top of Win XP if that makes any difference.
I shall try synergy later.

Please feel free to comment on the problem.

I have not had the "Enter Key Issue"
I had not noticed the 123 key issue until you brought it up, most the time I just ssh into the shell, so I don't use x2x to much.

If I figure anything out, I'll let you know.

Does anybody know if and how we aslo could use the mouse on the N900?
They keyboard works very well.
I like it especially because the clipboard is working between my PC and N900.

I installed Bluetooth HID scripts and now I can enable/disable a mouse cursor.

I'm still trying to figure out how to remap my keyboard when using x2x. I thought I could do it with the same scripts package, but no luck so far.

If you just want the mouse to show then this thread might be interesting.

I am using windows Vista and I installed Xming as you said and I want to use this AWESOME feature
I dont know what to do with the Xming I installed to connect after that from the N900 ?

I type the command ( ssh -X username@ipadress 'x2x -south -from :0.0' )
but it tells me Connection timed out and sometimes Invalid argument

PS: I have Openssh server and client, rootsh installed

hi @ all,
this is a simple solution to make the mouse pointer visible on the N900.

I need the mouse pointer if connect my N900 device via x2x (a virtual keyboard and mouse) from my linux machine.

so I found this simple solution:

use the old X11 program: oneko !

tries the smiple software attaches.

tar-ball:
oneko-1.1_N900.tar.gz
x2x_N900.tar.gz

consider the README4N900 file in the tar-ball: oneko-1.1_N900.tar.gz

have fun :)
