Just find the author of that app and bring him here so that we can ALL beg him to port / tweak the app to work for N900 and screen-baring headsets...

Does it look like it *could* be ported to Maemo if he/she/they wanted to? (I don't know anything about programming...)

Hey bgrigor,
I just got this exact same headset. Now I don't know if you have managed to work out what has been going wrong, but I have now.
First up: the MW600 has the ability to connect to up to two devices, one as a standard phone headset (HSP?), one as a A2DP headset for music.

I'm not quite sure how to make this happen, but I have managed to make it happen a couple of times. AFAICT the n900 is connected to the MW600 via the HSP protocol, not the A2DP protocol.

The times the headset works fine are the times the two are connected via A2DP. Not sure how to fix this properly, but to work round it, turn on the MW600, wait for it to connect. Then, on the n900, go to bluetooth devices, select the MW600, click Disconnect. Then click Connect. Should immediately in the proper A2DP mode.

I'm sure someone on this thread mentioned that the n900 wasn't scanning properly. Must be just stopping scanning as soon as it found the HSP profile.

yep!

the DS-970 has also done this a few times, but only after a call...

it just "gets stuck" in the handsfree mode and thus the music plays like crap afterwards...
everything can be fixed by dis- and re- connecting, like mentioned before, but some times just hitting PAUSE and then PLAY also does the trick!!!

Re: N900 + SE A2DP Bluetooth stereo headset

I bought a MW600, I paired and I was glad to hear music playing with high quality. I discovered the problem with the bad sound only playing with my mac; adjusting the sound output you can send it to the headset in two modes: handsfree (bad quality) or headphones (good quality). But so far the N900 is always sending the sound with high quality.

After that, I discovered that switching off and on the headset, connects and shows the icon in the phone, but the sound is not being sent to the headset (it can still be heard in the phone's speakers).

The only workaround is either deleting the bluetooth device from the list and pairing again, or going to the bt device properties and pressing "disconnect" and "connect". Only after this the sound is send again correctly to the MW600.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? It makes the disconnection/reconnection a waste of time every time I want to use the headset.

Re: N900 + SE A2DP Bluetooth stereo headset

sorry aykito, but this story goes far into the past of Bluetooth headsets...

The DS970, for instance, although claimed to be able to connect to several devices at the same time (certainly not meaning simultaneously!), is NOT able to switch the "Headphones" mode from one device to another!
Meaning, if you pair it with a device and use the "media transfer" mode, you will need to HARD RESET it (so that it loses all settings) in order to connect it to another media source...

Pity.... I also went through this procedure a LOT of times when trying to listen to some music from my laptop... then had to hard reset to return it to my P990... :(

Re: N900 + SE A2DP Bluetooth stereo headset

Hi Hoshiro,
this issue is happening when paired only with the phone.
It seems to me that when the headphones are switched on, the profile activated is the handsfree, but not the A2DP. Therefore I can see the symbol in the phone, but the music is being played from the speakers.
Only by disconnecting and reconnecting from the n900 software, both profiles are activated.
In some operating systems, the sound can be manually redirected to the speakers or to the bluetooth devices. But that cannot be done in Maemo, or at least I don't know how.

Re: N900 + SE A2DP Bluetooth stereo headset

Hi Aykito, I too have had problems with connecting the MW600 but think I have finally found a solution to the connection issue.

Initially when I purchased the MW600 device/headset I had to connect the headset, then disconnect via the Bluetooth Device Manager (under edit) and reconnect in the Edit device screen.

After the latest PR1.2 update though, I found that the MW600 headset would connect seamlessly every time, even after hard resetting (off/on) the MW600 device. However after a few days I decided to re-pair the device (deleting from the N900 and re-pairing). After doing that I had the same connection issues as I did prior to PR1.2.

I then had a brain wave that it was to do with hard resetting the N900. I left Bluetooth switched on and turned the N900 off/on and the connection issue with the MW600 device/headset seemed to have resolved itself.

I still have a few connection issues from time to time but for the most part the two devices pair with each other without having to go through the device menu on the N900. If the MW600 doesn’t pair, just switch it off/on again. If having on-going problems, hard reset the N900 with Bluetooth switched on (on the N900, not the MW600) and it should resolve the issue.

Worth a try, be interested to see if it works for anyone else. Otherwise this device and the included headphones are awesome, good bass for ‘in-ear’ headphones.
