Re: HELP! WIFI does not work after installing JoikuSpot

Any idea how to get the WLAN connection working again or how to check where the issue comes from? Its 100% related with Joiku because there the mess started.

Now don't tell me I have to re-flash my N900 the 100th time because I will do that then in my Microwave...

I've seen many posts about WLAN problems and most of them come from user routers.

just restart your router and if that didn't work just reset it.

Re: HELP! WIFI does not work after installing JoikuSpot

Just finished buying Joikuspot, downloaded and ran it just to test on my MacBook Pro - ran great (though I'm on AT&T's 2.5G EDGE network). N900 did get rather warm as has been reported, and after reading this thread I loaded up MicroB to see if WiFi was working.

Nope. No site would load.

So I turned the N900 off, turned it back on, and it's working fine. Maybe there's something in the WiFi driver in how ad-hoc mode is being released that it's not reloading the infrastructure mode properly? Regardless, I'm ecstatic that there's at least an easy way to tether my laptop - now it's the kinks like these that have to get worked out. :)

I have had the WiFi communication from the N900 to the router go down after downloading several apps on different occasions. The strange thing is that 3 PC's were still running fine on the router both times it happened, but the N900 did not connect. I haven't had to reset my router for 3 years before I got the N900. For some reason, resetting the router fixed the problem. I have no explanation what happened.

Same experience I had. There were 3 PCs connected to the router and all works fine but my N900 won't connect. Rebooting the router fixed it for some reason I can't explain.

Here is what I did in sequence (I don't know which combination of things may have fixed it):
1. Installed JoikuSpot
2. Tested that it works (tried it only for about 5mins)
3. Closed JoikuSpot, then noticed I could not connect to my WIFI
4. Tried rebooting (off and then on) my N900 several times, still not working
5. Removed JoikuSpot, and rebooted - still not working
6. Tried to reflash to the latest image - still not working
7. I got an old WIFI router -- connected it to the existing router I got -- I was able to connect to this access point from the old router
8. Restarted the problematic router, removed the old one which worked and tried to connect again. This time it worked.

Hope you get yours fixed.

I tested several routers (including a reset), even removed the SIM card of the phone and tested a lot of other possibilities -> No chance.

I see that other users have the same problem, so I guess its a Joiku bug in the release version?

Joiku replied me and said that they are "very confused" about my issue and couldn't reproduce it yet.

Re: HELP! WIFI does not work after installing JoikuSpot

I'm sure the first time I ran JoikuSpot, a message popped up stating it was going to make changes to the WiFi settings to allow the program to work. Since installing JoikuSpot, my home router works fine, but I have been unable to connect to any BTOpenZone hotspot - just get a message that I am unable to obtain an IP address.

It could be a bug in how ad-hoc networking is implemented in the N900?

Seems so because only ad-hoc is still working currently, still this seems to be a Joiku related bug when its upgrading the network drivers and this is a really annoying one that's sure!
