you're thinking that you could flag a specific contact and have all conversations messages go to a hidden folder.


OR

you're thinking you could mark each txt message as "hidden" and then view them by clicking an unmarked set of keys, like shift-ctrl-h in the conversations window to unhide all "hidden" sms.


maybe the first one has a work around, set up an SIP account with txt, and have the hidden person or persons txt you there. You could receive at your convenience by connecting to SIP, or head to the web interface.

The other solution may be interesting in brainstorm.

That just makes you look like you are hiding something. What if your wife/girlfriend asks "Well why can't I just use your phone, I just need to make a call" Then you let her call and she is on there for a little while. You go to the bathroom only to find her tapping around on your phone screen while you were gone. Sure, angry birds was open, but since she didn't know about multitasking she didn't know to close the conversations app. Your heart beats wildly as you can clearly read the last text you got was something you didn't want her to read. She pretends she didn't read it, but you can't help but wonder. Then she dumps you the next day and you say "Why didn't I hide that text! I couldn't delete it because it had information stored in it that I needed! Why?!!!!"

Weeks go by, you slowly get over her, or at least you thought you did. Then you find out she is now dating one of your friends that you see all of the time. Everything gets awkward. Like that night at bowling when him and her were on the other lane and she gave you that look you knew all too well. The look that said "you did this and now you are going to pay." You sit at the end bench. It's your turn, but you don't care because all you can think about is what you had. All of the moments. The pictures still neatly organized on your N900 with tags like "best day ever" and "Forever love". All of your old conversations with her still there because you don't want to forget her, but looking at them makes you cry. If only you could just hide them for now, but no, there is not app for that. Hiding that one text could have prevented all of this. There is no app for that..........

actually I googled larper after I wrote that(if that tells you anything). I just wanted to make him feel bad for always using device lock. lol

Damn weirdbeard that example is totally right! My heart always pounds when my gf sees my phone just in case there's something that pops up or something she finds offensive or something

This would be way useful, my girlfriend used to read my texts until I told her very sternly that everybody should be entitled to their privacy.

She openly lets me read hers, I don't though.

This would be a good way to say I have nothing to hide and not get caught ;)

Recently I've just been deleting the threads but something like this would be ideal.

had it on my n95. when i got an sms from someone on the list it used to hide them for later viewing.

no it doesn't. it only tells that you have something confidential at your phone. and my answer to that question is: buy your own phone...

device lock is not a solution in my case. As i said before, its almost regular that people want to see what are the functionalities of n900 so i give them the device and they use it for few minutes. Some ppl are good and you know that if they say they are not going to read your conversation they wont (you dont even to mention this to them), but there are people in your friend's circle who you know if they get a chance to read your conversations they definitely will (and its seems so rude to not let them view the device). Its not a big problem for me right now, because I regularly delete certain gtalk conversations. Specially before friends get togethers I have to clear just few of my conversations, cuz i know almost all of them will be checking out my 900.

As i said, n900 is a very personal device, and its hard to tell ppl that it is :)
